GSF Technical Trades Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gun and Shell Factory (GSF), a unit of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring skilled trade workers for production work at GSF Kashipur. The drive covers fitting, machining, turning, electroplating and heat-treatment work on a fixed-tenure contract. The Academy of Weapon Technology and Management (AWTM), Ichapur, receives applications for this recruitment.

The posts support factory production. Your assigned work will depend on the requirements of your trade and the unit. The engagement is full time and follows the factory production programme.

Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical Fitter: The notified trade is Electrical Fitter.
• Mechanical Fitter: The corresponding trade is General Fitter (Mechanical).
• Machinist: The notified trade is Machinist.
• Turner: The notified trade is Turner.
• Electroplater: The notified trade is Electroplater.
• Heat Treatment Operator: The corresponding trade is Forger and Heat Treater.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed tenure: The initial full-time contract is for one year. After appraisal and review, the company may extend it by one further year if required, bringing the maximum tenure to two years.
• Work schedule: Factory staff normally work eight hours a day and six days a week, following the production programme and assigned shift pattern.
• Performance review: Performance is assessed every six months. Continued poor performance after the improvement period can lead to termination under the notice conditions.
• Employment status: This engagement does not give you the status of a regular AWEIL employee or a right to regularisation.
• Benefits: The engagement carries EPF coverage, paid leave on the stated pro-rata basis, protective gear and statutory benefits where applicable. Several benefits available to regular staff are excluded.
• Factory accommodation: Company quarters may be offered where available under licence-fee rules. HRA applies when quarters are not provided, as described in the notice.
• Medical fitness: Final engagement depends on passing the required medical fitness check.
• Posting: The notified workplace is Gun and Shell Factory, Kashipur. Factory rules govern your conduct and duty assignments.

• Corrigendum II — receipt deadline: The closing date means the date your application reaches AWTM Ichapur. It must arrive on or before 2 November 2026. Posting it by that date is insufficient; AWTM will not accept responsibility for postal delays.
