Gun and Shell Factory (GSF), a unit of Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring skilled trade workers for production work at its factory in West Bengal. The drive covers fitting, machining, turning, electroplating and heat-treatment work on a fixed-tenure contract. Posts and Disciplines

• Electrical Fitter: Electrical fitting, equipment connections, fault checks and upkeep of production-support systems.

Post-wise Duties

Electrical and Mechanical Fitters

You will assemble, check and repair electrical or mechanical production equipment within your trade. The work calls for careful tool use, safe isolation practices and accurate fitting so that production lines remain dependable.

Machinists and Turners

You will set up jobs, operate the relevant machine tools and check finished components against drawings and specified tolerances. Good measurement habits and attention to surface finish will matter throughout the shift.

Electroplaters and Heat Treatment Operators

You will handle controlled metal-processing operations, follow process sheets and keep batch or cycle records. These roles also need close compliance with chemical, furnace and protective-equipment procedures.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed tenure: The initial full-time contract is for one year and may be extended after review, subject to company requirements, up to the overall limit stated in the notice.
• Work schedule: Factory staff normally work eight hours a day and six days a week, following the production programme and assigned shift pattern.
• Performance review: Performance is assessed every six months. Continued poor performance after the improvement period can lead to termination under the notice conditions.
• Employment status: This engagement does not give you the status of a regular AWEIL employee or a right to regularisation.
• Benefits: The engagement carries EPF coverage, paid leave on the stated pro-rata basis, protective gear and statutory benefits where applicable. Several benefits available to regular staff are excluded.
