Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) Nursing Superintendent Recruitment 2026 - 12 Posts

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advertisement No. 09/2026-27 for direct recruitment of 12 Nursing Superintendent posts in the Gujarat Nursing Service, Class-2, under the Health & Family Welfare Department. This is a permanent Class-2 cadre post in Pay Matrix Level-09 with Grade Pay 5400. Registered nurses with Indian Nursing Council recognised qualification and 2-5 years of nursing experience can apply through the GPSC online portal.

The 12 posts are reserved category-wise as follows:

• General: 6 posts (including 2 reserved for women)
• EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 1 post
• SEBC (Socially & Educationally Backward Class): 3 posts (including 1 reserved for women)

• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 2 posts

Who Can Apply?

You must possess any one of the following educational qualifications and experience:

• M.Sc (Nursing) recognised by Indian Nursing Council with about 2 years of combined or separate experience in clinical area or Community Health Nursing; OR
• Post Basic B.Sc (Nursing) recognised by Indian Nursing Council with about 2 years of combined or separate experience in clinical area or Community Health Nursing; OR
• Basic B.Sc (Nursing) recognised by Indian Nursing Council with about 5 years of combined or separate experience in clinical area or Community Health Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• The selected candidate must be registered with the Gujarat Nursing Council as Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife under the Gujarat Nurse, Midwives and Health Visitors Act, 1968 at the time of joining (if not already registered).
• You must have basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• You must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Age Limit

• You should not be more than 39 years old on the last date of online application (19 May 2026).
• Age Relaxation (upper age limit can be relaxed up to maximum 45 years):
• Gujarat SC/ST/SEBC/EWS candidates: 5 years
• Gujarat SC/ST/SEBC/EWS women candidates: 10 years (includes 5 years for women)
• Unreserved (General) women candidates: 5 years
• Ex-Servicemen including E.C.O./S.S.C.O.: Length of military service (at least 5 years) + 3 years
• Persons with Disabilities: 10 years

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 9,300 - 34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 5,400
• 7th Pay Commission Pay Matrix: Level-09 (Rs. 53,100 - Rs. 1,67,800 per month)
• Plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Gujarat Government rules.

Application Fee

• General (Unreserved): Rs. 100/- + portal service charge or Rs. 100 + service charges if paid online
• Reserved categories (Gujarat origin): SC / ST / SEBC / EWS / Ex-Servicemen / PwD — No fee
• Reserved category candidates from outside Gujarat must pay the prescribed fee.

Selection Process

The selection is done in 2 stages — direct recruitment through Preliminary Exam and Interview:

1. Preliminary Test (300 Marks): Total 300 questions for 300 marks in 180 minutes (3 hours). Part-A: General Studies — 100 questions, 100 marks (60 minutes). Part-B: Concerned Subject (Nursing) — 200 questions, 200 marks (120 minutes). Candidates scoring below 15% will not be eligible for the interview.
2. Interview (100 Marks): Candidates shortlisted as per the ratio — 10 candidates per post for 1 post, 16 for 2 posts, 18 for 3 posts, and 3x or 20 (whichever is higher) for 4+ posts.
3. Final Merit: 50% weightage of Preliminary marks + 50% weightage of Interview marks.
