All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora, J&K is hiring 94 Faculty members on a Direct Recruitment Basis. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Awantipora (J&K) is one of the new AIIMS being established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. AIIMS New Delhi is the mentoring institute. Through Advertisement Notification No. 67/2026 dated 15 May 2026, the institute has invited online applications for 85 Assistant Professor, 5 Associate Professor, 2 Additional Professor and 2 Professor posts across 40 medical/surgical departments. Indian citizens and OCI cardholders under Section 7A of the Citizenship Act 1955 can apply.

Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Professor (Medical Candidates)

  • Medical qualification included in Schedule I & II or Part II of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956
  • Postgraduate qualification: MD/MS/DM/MCh in the relevant specialty (or recognised equivalent)
  • 3 years of teaching/research experience after MD/MS for general specialities (or 1 year after DM/MCh for super-specialities; no experience required for those holding 3-year or 6-year DM/MCh)

For Associate Professor (Medical, General Discipline)

  • MD/MS in the respective discipline + 6 years teaching/research experience after MD/MS
  • For Super Specialty: DM/MCh + 4 years experience (or 3 years for those with 3-year recognised DM/MCh)

For Additional Professor

  • MD/MS + 10 years experience after PG (or DM/MCh + 8 years; 7 years for 3-year DM/MCh holders)

For Professor

  • MD/MS + 14 years teaching/research experience after PG, OR
  • DM/MCh (2 or 5-year course after MBBS) + 12 years experience, OR
  • 3-year recognised DM/MCh + 11 years experience

For Non-Medical Candidates (where applicable)

  • Master's degree in the discipline/allied subject + Doctorate (Ph.D)
  • Required teaching/research experience after Doctorate: 3 years (Asst Prof), 6 years (Assoc Prof), 10 years (Add'l Prof), 14 years (Professor)

For Dentistry Posts

  • Candidates with BDS + MDS in any specialty of Dentistry approved by Dental Council of India may apply

Age Limit

  • Assistant Professor & Associate Professor: Maximum 50 years (general)
  • Additional Professor & Professor: Maximum 58 years (no age relaxation for these posts)
  • Cut-off date for age eligibility: 18 June 2026 (last date of online submission)
  • Age Relaxation (Asst Prof & Assoc Prof only): SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: 5 years, Ex-Servicemen: 5 years, Government Employees: 5 years
  • Maximum age after relaxation shall not exceed 55 years for Asst/Assoc Prof posts

Salary

  • Assistant Professor: Level 12 - Rs. 1,01,500 - 1,67,400 per month (7th CPC)
  • Associate Professor: Level 13-A1+ - Rs. 1,38,300 - 2,09,200 per month
  • Additional Professor: Level 13-A2+ - Rs. 1,48,200 - 2,11,400 per month
  • Professor: Level 14-A - Rs. 1,68,900 - 2,20,400 per month
  • Plus Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) for Medical Faculty (NPA not paid to Non-Medical faculty)
  • Plus usual allowances as per Institute norms

  • Fee is non-refundable except for SC/ST candidates who appear in the interview

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely interview-based with objective screening:

  1. Initial Eligibility Check: All applications meeting age, education and experience criteria are shortlisted.
  2. Objective Screening (when applicants > 10 per post): Each candidate is assigned a score out of 75 marks across Academic Achievements (10), Research & Publications (35) and Teaching & Presentations (30). Top 10 scores per post are shortlisted (multiples of 10 for multiple posts).
  3. Virtual Meetings (if needed): The Screening Committee may call candidates for virtual clarification meetings.
  4. Document Verification: Mandatory verification of original certificates on the day of interview.
  5. Interview: Final selection is made by the Standing Selection Committee. The entire interview is video recorded.

Note: Screening scores are used only for shortlisting and are not used for final selection.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in your specialty as per AIIMS curriculum
  • Conduct clinical rounds, OPD consultations and inpatient care in the assigned department
  • Supervise residents, postgraduate students and junior doctors during clinical training
  • Lead research projects, write grant proposals and publish in peer-reviewed medical journals
  • Participate in department meetings, hospital committees and AIIMS governance activities
  • Develop curriculum, prepare lecture material and conduct examinations for medical courses
  • Provide tertiary level patient care including emergencies and complex cases as per specialty
  • Mentor junior faculty and contribute to institute building activities at AIIMS Awantipora

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

MBBS + MD/MS/DM/MCh (or DNB equivalent) in the relevant specialty as per Indian Medical Council Act 1956 / NMC. For Non-Medical posts: Master's + Ph.D in the discipline.

Preferred Qualification

Higher specialty qualifications, NMC-recognised teaching experience, research publications, funded projects

Exam Pattern

There is no written exam for AIIMS Awantipora Faculty recruitment. Selection is interview-based with objective screening when applicants exceed 10 per post.
