Government Medical College and Hospital, Ratnagiri (GMC Ratnagiri), under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, has announced recruitment for 37 posts of Professor and Associate Professor on a contract basis for 364 days. This includes 20 Professor posts and 17 Associate Professor posts across 20 medical specialties. This is a walk-in interview recruitment — no written exam is required. Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject from a recognized university. For pre-clinical subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochemistry — M.Sc. (Medical) or Ph.D./D.Sc. in the relevant subject along with MBBS is also accepted.
• Experience: You must have worked as an Associate Professor for at least 3 years in the relevant subject at a permitted or recognized medical college or institution.
• Research: At least 4 research publications (as first or corresponding author) in journals indexed in Medicine, PubMed Central, Science Citation Index, Expanded Embase, Scopus, or Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Only original papers, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and case series count.
• Additional: Must have completed Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) and Basic Course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) from institutions designed by NMC.

For Associate Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject from a recognized university. For Ophthalmology — M.S. (Ophthalmology)/M.D. (Ophthalmology)/DNB is accepted. For Obstetrics & Gynaecology — M.D./M.S. (OBG)/DNB.
• Experience: You must have worked as an Assistant Professor for at least 4 years in the relevant subject at a permitted or recognized medical college or institution.
• Research: At least 2 research publications in indexed journals (same criteria as above).
• Additional: Must have completed BCME and BCBR from NMC-designed institutions.

Eligibility criteria are as per the Government notification dated 14.02.2022.

Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra.

Medical Registration: Permanent registration with Maharashtra Medical Council or Indian Medical Council is mandatory.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 65 years as on 31 December 2025.
• No minimum age specified.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 2,00,000 per month (fixed honorarium on contract basis)
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,85,000 per month (fixed honorarium on contract basis)
• As per Government resolutions dated 09/03/2022 and 29/08/2024.
• The appointment is purely on contract basis for 364 days or until a regular candidate is appointed, whichever is earlier.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this recruitment. Selection will be done through:

1. Application Screening: Verification of qualifications, experience, and research publications.
2. Walk-in Interview: To be held on 23 April 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Auditorium Hall, Government Medical College, Ratnagiri.
3. Document Verification: You must bring original documents along with self-attested copies at the time of interview.

The selection committee reserves the right to modify or cancel the advertisement.
