Government Medical College and Hospital, Ratnagiri (GMC Ratnagiri), under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, has released a revised advertisement for 29 Assistant Professor posts on a 364-day temporary contractual basis. These posts will be filled through an institution-level selection committee. There is no written exam -- selection is based on merit and interview. Doctors who have completed their MD/MS/DNB in the required medical specialty can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification (as per NMC Norms)

The required qualification varies by subject. Here is a summary:

• For most clinical subjects (General Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Orthopedics, OBG, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, TB & Chest, Community Medicine): MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject.
• Anatomy: M.S. (Anatomy) / M.D. Anatomy / MBBS with M.Sc. (Anatomy) / M.Sc. (Medical Anatomy) with Ph.D. (Medical Anatomy) / M.Sc. Medical Anatomy with D.Sc. Medical Anatomy/DNB.
• Physiology: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) (Physiology) or DNB (Physiology), or MBBS + Bachelor of Surgery with Master of Science (Medical Physiology) with doctorate-level qualification in Medical Physiology.
• Biochemistry: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) (Biochemistry) or DNB (Biochemistry), or MBBS + Bachelor of Surgery with M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) with doctorate qualification.
• Pharmacology: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) (Pharmacology) or DNB (Pharmacology) or MBBS with Ph.D. (Medical Pharmacology).
• Microbiology: M.D. (Bacteriology) / M.D. (Microbiology) or DNB (Bacteriology/Microbiology) or MBBS with M.Sc. (Medical Bacteriology).
• Ophthalmology: M.S. (Ophthalmology) / M.D. (Ophthalmology) / DNB.
• Radiodiagnosis: M.D. (Radiodiagnosis) / M.D. (Radiology) / M.S. (Radiology) / DNB.

Experience Required

• Type 1: One year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject at a recognized/permitted medical college after completing MD/MS degree.
• Type 2 (for Biochemistry and some pre/para-clinical subjects): 3 years as Junior Resident in a recognized medical college in the concerned subject, plus 1 year as Senior Resident. DNB candidates equated to MD/MS need additional 3 years of teaching experience as Resident/Registrar/Demonstrator/Tutor.

Those who have undergone DNB training in a multi-specialty teaching hospital with at least 500 beds may also qualify as per NMC regulations.

Other Requirements

• You must attach a "Non-Harassment Certificate" from your current or previous institution and relevant NMC registration details.
• If you are currently working in a government/semi-government or autonomous medical college, you need a NOC from your current employer.
• A self-declaration letter stating that you are not working in any other government institute/department is required.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 60 years
• Up to 65 years for experienced candidates (as per government norms)
• No minimum age specified in the notification

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 1,00,000 per month (One Lakh only).
• This is as per the Maharashtra Government decision dated 31/12/2020.
• After deducting the approved salary scale basic pay amount from 10-crore services, the remaining difference will be paid as honorarium.
• This is a contractual post -- regular pay scale benefits like DA, HRA, and increments do not apply.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through an institution-level selection committee:

1. Application Screening: Your application and documents will be verified for eligibility.
2. Merit Evaluation: Candidates will be evaluated based on academic qualifications, teaching experience, research publications, and other criteria as per NMC norms.
3. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview before the selection committee at GMC Ratnagiri.
4. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified during the interview.

The selection committee reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage without prior notice.
