Government Medical College and Hospital, Ratnagiri, functioning under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, Maharashtra, has issued two revised advertisements to fill vacant teaching positions. Who Can Apply?

For Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant medical subject. For some subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry), M.Sc. with Ph.D. or D.Sc. in the concerned subject is also accepted.
• Experience: Associate Professor in the subject for 3 years in a permitted/recognized medical college or institution, as per NMC notification dated 14.02.2022.
• Research: At least 4 research publications (at least 2 as Associate Professor). Only original papers, meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and case series published in indexed journals (PubMed, Scopus, Expanded Embase, DOAJ) are considered.
• Additional: Must have completed a basic course in Medical Education (BCME) and a basic course in Biomedical Research (BCBR) from NMC-designed institutions.

For Associate Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant medical subject.
• Experience: Assistant Professor in the subject for 4 years in a permitted/recognized medical college, as per NMC notification dated 14.02.2022.
• Research: At least 2 research publications in indexed journals (PubMed, Scopus, Expanded Embase, DOAJ).
• Additional: Must have completed BCME and BCBR from NMC-designed institutions.

For Assistant Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the relevant subject as per NMC norms. For some basic science subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry), M.D./M.Sc. with Ph.D./D.Sc. is also accepted.
• Experience: 1 year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognized/permitted medical college after acquiring MD/MS degree. For Biochemistry, 3 years as Junior Resident + 1 year as Senior Resident in a recognized college (or DNB equivalent).

Common Requirements for All Posts

• You must be an Indian citizen and a resident of Maharashtra.
• Permanent registration with Maharashtra Medical Council or any Indian Medical Council registered under the 1956 Act is mandatory.
• If you are working in a government or semi-government medical college, you need an NOC from your current employer.

Age Limit

• Professor and Associate Professor: Maximum age is 68 years as on 31 December 2025.
• Assistant Professor: Maximum age is 60 years. Superannuated candidates can apply up to 65 years.
• Age relaxation for reserved categories is as per Maharashtra government rules.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 2,00,000 per month (fixed honorarium as per Maharashtra Government decision dated 09/03/2022 and 29/08/2024).
• Associate Professor: Rs. 1,85,000 per month (fixed honorarium).
• Assistant Professor: Rs. 1,00,000 per month (fixed honorarium as per Government decision dated 31/12/2020). This includes gross amount with 10% deduction for provident fund equivalent.
• These are contractual positions — regular government allowances (DA, HRA) do not apply. Only casual leave is admissible during the contract period.

• The notification does not mention any application fee.

Selection Process

Selection for all three cadres is through interview only — there is no written exam.

1. Application Screening: Your application and documents will be verified for eligibility as per NMC norms.
2. Interview (Professor and Associate Professor): Conducted by a Centralized Selection Committee at the Auditorium, GMC Ratnagiri on 23 April 2026 at 3:00 PM.
3. Interview (Assistant Professor): Conducted by an Institution-Level Selection Committee at GMC Ratnagiri on 30 April 2026 at 3:00 PM.
4. Document Verification: You must bring original documents and attested copies at the time of interview.
