Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Judicial Magistrate Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

GHADC, Tura has released an advertisement to fill 2 vacant posts of Judicial Magistrate in the Subordinate District Council Court, under the Garo Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules, 1953. This post is reserved exclusively for citizens of India belonging to the Garo Community who are permanent residents of Meghalaya. If you are a practicing Advocate with courtroom experience and know Garo customs and language, this is a chance to serve as a judicial officer in your home district. The post is governed by the Garo Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules, 1953, which lay down the eligibility, pay, and procedure for appointment to the Subordinate District Council Court. The appointment is made through direct recruitment, so there is no departmental promotion route being used to fill these seats — every eligible Advocate from the Garo Community gets an equal chance to compete.

Who Can Apply?

  • Community & Residency: You must be a citizen of India belonging to the Garo Community and a permanent resident of Meghalaya.
  • Qualification: You need a degree in law (LL.B.) from a recognized university.
  • Experience: You must currently be practicing as an Advocate in courts of criminal and civil jurisdiction, with at least 3 years of practice. A certificate from your Bar Association is required.
  • Local Knowledge: You must be conversant in Garo customs, Garo language, and usages prevalent in the Autonomous Districts of Garo Hills.
  • Certification: A certificate from your Bar Association confirming your 3 years of practice must be enclosed with your application, along with your LL.B. degree certificate and mark sheets.

These conditions apply together — you must satisfy the community, residency, qualification, experience, and local-knowledge criteria at the time you submit your application.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 27 and 37 years old as on 20 July 2026, the last date for receipt of applications.

Salary

  • Selected candidates will get Rs. 77,840 to Rs. 1,36,520 per month, plus other allowances admissible under the Garo Hills Autonomous District (Administration of Justice) Rules, 1953.

Paper-II carries 100 marks in 3 hours and covers Constitutional Law and related legal subjects.
  2. Personal Interview

How to Apply

  1. Get the prescribed application form from the Receipt Cell of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council by paying Rs. 100.
