FSSAI is filling 33 Group A and B posts at its Headquarters in New Delhi and Regional Offices across India on a deputation (Foreign Service terms) basis. If you are a serving officer in a Central or State Government body, PSU, or autonomous organisation, you can apply online at fssai.gov.in. The last date to apply online is 30 April 2025. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released Circular DEP-01/2025 for filling up various Group A and Group B posts through deputation on Foreign Service terms. The recruitment covers 11 different post types spread across FSSAI Headquarters (New Delhi) and Regional Offices at Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. Officers from Central/State Government, Union Territories, Government Universities, Recognised Research Institutions, PSUs, Semi-Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations are eligible to apply. Departmental officers in the feeder cadre who are in the direct line of promotion are not eligible for these deputation posts.

Who Can Apply?

These are deputation posts — only officers already serving in government/public sector organisations can apply. You must be from one of these organisations:

• Central Government or State Government departments
• Union Territories, Government Universities, or Recognised Research Institutions
• Public Sector Undertakings, Semi-Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations

Director (Pay Level-13) — 2 posts

• Holding an analogous post on a regular basis; OR 5 years' service in Pay Level-12 equivalent
• Qualification (Admin stream): Bachelor's Degree + 15 years' experience in administration, finance, HR development or vigilance matters
• Qualification (Technical stream): Master's Degree in Chemistry, Food Technology, Food Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Agriculture, or related fields + 14 years' experience in food science research/labs; OR B.E./B.Tech in Food Technology or related field + 14 years' experience; OR Ph.D in relevant subject + 12 years' experience
• Desirable: Law degree, MBA, or equivalent

Joint Director (Pay Level-12) — 3 posts

• Holding an analogous post; OR 5 years' service in Pay Level-11 equivalent
• Qualification (Admin): Bachelor's Degree + 12 years' experience in administration, finance, HR or vigilance
• Qualification (Legal): Full-time Law Degree + 12 years' experience handling legal matters or working as Law Officer
• Qualification (Technical): Master's Degree in Food Technology/Chemistry/related fields, OR B.E./B.Tech in Food Technology + 11 years' experience; OR Ph.D in relevant subject + 9 years' experience

Senior Manager (IT) (Pay Level-12) — 1 post

• Qualification: B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or any Engineering discipline, OR MCA, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
• 10 years' total experience with minimum 5 years in relevant IT field

• Holding an analogous post; OR 5 years' service in Pay Level-10 equivalent
• Qualification: PG Degree/Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, MBA (Marketing); OR PG in Social Work, Psychology, Labour & Social Welfare; OR Master's in Library Sciences

Manager (IT) (Pay Level-11) — 2 posts

Assistant Director (OL) (Pay Level-10) — 1 post

• Holding an analogous post, OR 2 years in Pay Level-8, OR 3 years in Pay Level-7, OR 8 years in Pay Level-6
• Qualification: Master's Degree from a recognised University in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject, OR in English with Hindi as compulsory/elective; OR in any other subject with Hindi & English as required
• 3 years' experience in translation work from English to Hindi or vice-versa, preferably technical/scientific literature; OR 3 years' teaching experience in Hindi and English

Administrative Officer (Pay Level-8) — 10 posts

• Holding an analogous post; OR 2 years in Pay Level-7; OR 6 years in Pay Level-6
• Qualification: Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University + 3 years' experience in administration, finance, HR development, vigilance or accounts
• Desirable: Master's degree, MBA (Personnel/HR/Finance), CA, CS, or ICWA

Senior Private Secretary (Pay Level-8) — 4 posts

• Holding an analogous post; OR 2 years in Pay Level-6 equivalent
• Must be from Central/State Government, PSU or Autonomous Organisation

Assistant Manager (IT) (Pay Level-7) — 1 post

• Must be serving in a relevant IT capacity in eligible organisation

Assistant (Pay Level-6) — 6 posts

• Must be holding an analogous post or equivalent grade in eligible organisation

Age Limit

• Maximum age limit: 56 years on the last day of receiving of applications (30 April 2025)

Salary

• Director (Pay Level-13): Rs. 1,23,100 – Rs. 2,15,900 per month
• Joint Director / Sr. Manager / Sr. Manager (IT) (Pay Level-12): Rs. 78,800 – Rs. 2,09,200 per month
• Manager / Manager (IT) (Pay Level-11): Rs. 67,700 – Rs. 2,08,700 per month
• Assistant Director (OL) (Pay Level-10): Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500 per month
• Administrative Officer / Senior Private Secretary (Pay Level-8): Rs. 47,600 – Rs. 1,51,100 per month
• Assistant Manager (IT) (Pay Level-7): Rs. 44,900 – Rs. 1,42,400 per month
• Assistant (Pay Level-6): Rs. 35,400 – Rs. 1,12,400 per month
• Pay on deputation is governed by DoPT OM No.6/8/2009-Estt. (Pay II) dated 17th June 2010 and related orders
• Plus DA, HRA and other allowances as per Central Government rules

Selection Process

Selection is based on merit and the officer's service record. There is no written examination.

2. Hard Copy Submission: Print the completed online application, get it certified by your employer/Cadre Controlling Authority, and send it with supporting documents through proper channel to FSSAI HQ by 15 May 2025
3. Document Scrutiny: Submitted documents include integrity certificate, vigilance clearance, major/minor penalty record, and duly certified APARs for the last 5 years
4. Merit-based Selection: Competent Authority evaluates candidates based on service record, APARs and eligibility

• Manage file work, correspondence, and reporting in line with FSSAI and Central Government procedures
• Coordinate with other departments, state food safety authorities, and external agencies as required
• Prepare reports, presentations, and official communications in the assigned functional area
• Support inspection, audit, and compliance monitoring activities where applicable to the post
• Monitor and implement food safety regulations and standards under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006
