DRDO NMRL Ambernath Paid Internship 2026-27 - 20 Posts

Naval Materials Research Laboratory (NMRL), under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), works on strategic materials and energy technologies for the Indian Navy. NMRL has released Advertisement No. NMRL/HRD/PDINTERN/2026/01 inviting applications from eligible engineering and science students for paid internships across 7 disciplines. Selection is fully merit-based with an online interview/interaction. There is no written exam. The internship will start from 1 July 2026.

Note: No equivalent qualifications will be considered. Branch code must be mentioned in the email subject while applying.

Who Can Apply?

For B.E./B.Tech students

• You must be in the final year of your engineering degree
• Minimum CGPA of 7.0 in all previous semesters
• Branch must be Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics & Telecommunication, or Computer Science/IT

For M.Sc students

• You must be in the 2nd year of your post-graduate degree
• Minimum 65% marks in the 1st year exam
• Subject must be Chemistry, Biotechnology, or Physics

Other Requirements

• You must be enrolled in a full-time course from an AICTE/UGC approved College/University
• Nationality: Indian only
• A Referral Letter from your Principal/HOD is mandatory

Age Limit

• You should be below 25 years of age.

Stipend

• Monthly stipend: Rs. 5,000 per month
• Payment is made in 2 installments — first after 3 months of internship, second after completion of 6 months
• Stipend is paid only if you are present at the lab for a minimum of 15 working days per month
• Stipend will be transferred directly to your bank account
• No boarding or lodging expenses are admissible — you will need to arrange your own stay
• Project internship for M.Tech/M.Sc can be extended by 8-10 months without payment of stipend

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely merit-based:

1. Shortlisting based on marks scored in previous exams (CGPA for B.E./B.Tech and 1st year % for M.Sc)
2. Online interview / interaction as required
3. Document verification at the time of joining

Incomplete or erroneous applications and applications received after the due date will be rejected. No communication will be undertaken for rejected students.

How to Apply

1. Download the application format from the DRDO website at drdo.gov.in.
2. Get a Referral / Request letter from your College Principal or HOD on the prescribed format (printed on college letterhead).
3. Fill the application form with all details: name, DOB, Aadhaar, college details, discipline, branch code, semester/year, CGPA, etc.
4. Scan all documents — Application Form, Referral Letter, Marksheet of last semester/year, Copy of Aadhar Card, Brief Bio-data (under 300 words).
5. Email the scanned application to mmg.nmrl@gov.in.
6. Email subject line must be: 'Application for paid internship with branch code for which the candidate is applying' (e.g., "Application for paid internship - ME").
7. Submit before 10 June 2026, 5:00 PM. No hard copy applications will be accepted.

• Police verification certificate from hometown
• Undertaking for adherence to Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923
• Undertaking for IT Rules and Regulations of Ministry of Defence
• Bank account details for stipend transfer
• Original Aadhar Card and College ID Card
• 3 passport-size colour photographs

Important Dates

• Work on assigned research projects in strategic materials and energy technologies for Indian Navy
• Conduct laboratory experiments under guidance of DRDO scientists
• Maintain proper records of experiments, observations, and analysis
• Follow lab safety protocols and DRDO security guidelines strictly
• Prepare and submit a project report at the end of the internship
• Adhere to the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923 throughout the internship
• Attend the lab for a minimum of 15 working days per month
• Complete project evaluation and other formalities for the completion certificate
