Dharwad Court Special Judicial Magistrate (Railway) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Principal District and Sessions Court, Dharwad has released a notification dated 25 June 2026 to appoint a new Special Judicial Magistrate (Railway) at Hubballi. The current magistrate's term ends on 21 September 2026, so the court is now accepting fresh applications. The appointment is made by the High Court of Karnataka under Notification No. GOB.II.253/1990 (as amended on 21 February 2023).

Who Can Apply?

You must hold a law degree (LLB) from a university established by law in India (or an equivalent qualification) and meet any one of the conditions below:

Option 1 - Law Degree + Experience

• You have worked for at least 6 months as a Judicial or Special Magistrate of the First Class; OR
• You have practiced as a lawyer for at least 4 years, or you hold (or have held) a government post as required under Section 13/18 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.

Option 2 - Civil Service Probationer

• You are a probationer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) allotted to Karnataka, or a probationer of the Karnataka Administrative Service Class-I (Junior Scale).

Salary

• You will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 15,000 per month.
• This is an honorary post for a fixed period of one year.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

1. Application Scrutiny: The High Court of Karnataka checks your law degree, experience and other details.
2. Selection by the High Court: Candidates who meet the conditions are considered, and the appointment is made by order of the High Court.

There is no written exam for this post.
