Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ), a Category-I Central University located in Ajmer district, has released Advertisement No. CURAJ/R/F.176/Rectt./2026/5647 dated 22.05.2026 for the position of Chair Professor in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience under the School of Earth Sciences. The position is tenure-based for an initial period of 5 years, extendable yearly for 2 more years. This initiative aligns with Viksit Bharat 2047, NAPCC, UN SDGs and NEP 2020. Eminent academics from IITs, IISc, IIMs, NITs and Institutes of Eminence and outstanding industry professionals can apply.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualifications (As per UGC Regulations 2018)

• A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade in a point-scale)
• Ph.D. in Environmental Science / Atmospheric Science or an allied field with an outstanding record of research, publications and academic leadership
• A minimum of 10 years of teaching / research experience at a university or national-level institution
• Evidence of high-impact publications, patents, or technology development in environmental sciences
• Specialisation in Environmental Sustainability, Climate Change and Resilience, Water Resources, Land Degradation, Environmental Policy, or allied areas

OR (Alternative for Industry Professionals)

• An outstanding professional with a Ph.D. degree in the relevant / allied / applied disciplines from any academic institution / industry, with significant documented contribution to knowledge in the discipline, and 10 years of experience

Desirable Qualifications

• Proven experience in leading large interdisciplinary research projects
• Recognised contributions to environmental policy, technology innovation, or community engagement
• National / International awards, fellowships, or memberships in professional societies

Foreign nationals / OCI / NRIs with proven expertise may also be considered, subject to Government of India norms.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 70 years as on the last date of the advertisement (6 July 2026)
• No minimum age limit specified

Salary

• Consolidated pay of Rs. 2,00,000 (Rupees Two Lakhs) per month
• 3% annual increment during the tenure
• No other allowances are admissible

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on academic merit and committee assessment:

1. Application Scrutiny: CV, research credentials, vision plan and supporting documents are evaluated
2. Search-cum-Selection Committee: The University may also invite eminent persons through a nomination/search mechanism
3. Selection by Committee: Final selection through a Selection Committee constituted by CURAJ

The appointment is purely contractual for 5 years (extendable by 2 years) and does not carry any right for permanent absorption.
