SRFTI, a Deemed-to-be University under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has released Advertisement No. SRFTI/RECTT/2026-27/004 to fill 32 posts on contract basis spanning Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Broadcast Engineers, Production Managers, Editors, Sound Recordists, Videographers, and a Cameraman. Most posts are based at SRFTI, Kolkata, while 3 posts (2 Associate Professors and 1 Cameraman) are based at FTII, Itanagar. No written exam is required — candidates are shortlisted directly for a trade test and/or interview. Who Can Apply?

Professor (7 posts, Rs. 1,55,200/month, or Rs. 1,31,500 with institute accommodation)

• Specializations: Cinematography, Writing, Direction & Producing, Editing, Management, Sound (all for Electronic & Digital Media), and Animation Cinema.
• You need a degree plus a postgraduate diploma (at least 2 years) in the relevant specialization with 8 years' professional/teaching experience, OR a Master's degree with 10 years' experience, OR a degree with 12 years' experience in a responsible capacity (13-15 years for Animation Cinema).

Associate Professor, SRFTI Kolkata (4 posts, Rs. 1,34,900/month, or Rs. 1,14,500 with accommodation)

• Specializations: Cinematography, Editing, Sound Recording and Design, Producing for Film and Television.
• You need a degree plus postgraduate diploma in the relevant field with at least 8 years' professional or teaching experience.

Assistant Professor, SRFTI Kolkata (11 posts, Rs. 1,13,600/month, or Rs. 96,700 with accommodation)

• Specializations: Sound Recording and Design (1), Writing for EDM (2), Management for EDM (2), Cinematography for EDM (2), Editing (2), Sound for EDM (1), Direction & Producing for EDM (1).
• You need a degree plus postgraduate diploma in the relevant field with 2-3 years' professional/teaching experience, OR a Master's degree with 4 years' experience, OR a degree with 6 years' experience.

Technical & Production Staff, SRFTI Kolkata (7 posts)

• Broadcast Engineer (Rs. 1,13,600, or Rs. 96,700 with accommodation): Engineering degree in Telecommunication/Electrical/Electronics/IT/Electronics & Communication with 4 years' experience maintaining digital/electronic broadcast equipment.
• Assistant Broadcast Engineer (Rs. 70,200, or Rs. 59,500 with accommodation): Graduation in any stream with certification in Electronics/IT/Signal Processing and 2 years' experience.
• Production Manager (2 posts, Rs. 87,675, or Rs. 74,205 with accommodation): Degree plus postgraduate diploma in Film/TV Direction/Production or media management with 2-3 years' experience.
• Editor, Sound Recordist, and Videographer (1 post each, Rs. 70,200, or Rs. 59,500 with accommodation): Degree plus diploma in the relevant field with 2 years' experience.

FTII, Itanagar Posts (3 posts)

• Associate Professor, Editing / Direction (Rs. 1,19,424, or Rs. 1,12,654 with accommodation): Degree plus postgraduate diploma with 4 years' experience, OR Master's with 6 years, OR degree with 8 years, in Editing or Direction/Screenplay Writing respectively.
• Cameraman, Still Photography (Rs. 62,316): Degree plus a diploma in Still Photography with at least 2 years' experience as a photographer. Note: this post has an upper age limit of 30 years, lower than the 63-year limit for all other posts.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit is 63 years for almost all posts, and 30 years for the Cameraman (Still Photography) post at FTII, Itanagar.
• The crucial date for age calculation is 3 August 2026, the last date for receiving applications.

Salary

• You get a consolidated monthly honorarium ranging from Rs. 62,316 (Cameraman) to Rs. 1,55,200 (Professor), depending on the post.
• If you opt for institute-provided accommodation, your cash honorarium is slightly lower — as low as Rs. 59,500 to Rs. 1,31,500 — with staff quarters available subject to availability and rent as per your post/category.

Application Fee

• General category: Rs. 1,200 per post, paid online through SBI Collect.
• SC, ST, PwD, and female candidates are exempted from the application fee.
• If you apply for more than one post, you must pay the fee separately for each post.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

SRFTI selects candidates through document screening and interview/trade test, without a written exam:

1. Application Screening: The Institute shortlists candidates based on qualifications and experience shown in the application.
2. Trade Test and/or Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a trade test and/or interview, depending on the post. Candidates are also required to produce evidence of professional work/portfolio for most posts.

The Institute's decision on shortlisting and selection is final and binding, and it reserves the right to reject any or all applications, or leave any vacancy unfilled.
