RRC ER Cultural Quota Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Railway Recruitment Cell of Eastern Railway (RRC ER) in Kolkata is filling Group C posts under the Cultural Quota for the 2026-27 year. Cultural Quota is a special route Indian Railways keeps for trained artists, so you get a regular railway job based on your talent in a performing art rather than through the usual mass exam.

This round covers just two disciplines: Classical Dance and Drama (Acting or Direction), and both are open to men and women. If you have no formal cultural qualification in your discipline, the notice is clear that you should not apply. Artists who have performed on All India Radio or Doordarshan, or won national-level awards, will find their record counts in their favour.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Classical Dance: open to performers trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohiniyattam, Odissi or Sattriya. You need a degree, diploma or certificate in your dance form from a government-recognised university or institute.
  • Drama (Acting/Direction): for stage actors and directors who hold a degree, diploma or certificate in drama from a government-recognised university or institute.

You will be placed in a suitable Group C post at Level-2 after selection. Mention your discipline clearly in the form; leaving it out can get your application rejected.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Open to all: Cultural Quota posts are not reserved for any group. If you are selected using a category age relaxation, you will be counted against the reserved roster point.
  • Bring your own instruments: RRC ER will not provide any instruments for the practical round, so arrange your own music, props or accompaniment.
  • Medical fitness: you must be declared fit in the medical category set for the post by the Railway Medical Authority before an offer is made.
  • Posting: the place of posting is decided by the competent authority based on available vacancies and medical fitness.
  • Clerk-cum-Typist placement: if you are appointed as a Clerk-cum-Typist, you must reach 30 wpm English or 25 wpm Hindi typing within two years, and your appointment stays provisional until then.
  • Travel and stay: no TA, DA or accommodation is given for any stage, and you may need to stay 2-3 days at your own cost. SC/ST candidates get a free second-class railway pass for the written test and document verification.
  • Serving government staff: get a No Objection Certificate from your employer.
  • Legal disputes: any case falls under the Central Administrative Tribunal, Kolkata.

Application Submission Notes

Apply only through the "Online/E-Application for Cultural Quota 2026-27" link on the RRC ER notice board at www.rrcer.org. Paper applications are rejected, and only one application per candidate is allowed.
