About This Job

CSIR-CGCRI Kolkata is hiring 1 Project Associate I for the project "Fabrication of Monolithic Ceramic Catalysts" (IHP-260002). If you have an M.Sc in Chemistry / Materials Science / Nanoscience or a B.E./B.Tech in Ceramic / Metallurgy / Materials Engineering / Chemical Engineering, you can apply. CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI) is conducting a walk-in interview for one Project Associate-I post under the CSIR-sponsored project "Fabrication of Monolithic Ceramic Catalysts". The position is purely temporary and tenable till 31 March 2027. Freshers with relevant qualification can attend the interview directly without any prior screening. The post code is 04/2627/01 under advertisement number 04/2627/MSTD/IHP-260002/RB.

Who Can Apply?

You can apply if you have any one of the following:

Essential Qualification

  • Option A: M.Sc in Chemistry (Physical or Inorganic specialisation), Materials Science, or Nanoscience from a recognised university
  • Option B: B.E./B.Tech in Ceramic / Metallurgy & Materials Engineering / Material Science / Nanoscience and Technology / Chemical Engineering from a recognised university or equivalent

Desirable

  • Knowledge in ceramic materials processing or membrane technology will be preferred

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years as on the date of interview (15 June 2026)
  • Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped and Female candidates; 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates

Salary

  • Candidates selected through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) or GATE, or via national-level exams by Central Government departments: Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA
  • Other selected candidates: Rs. 25,000 per month + HRA
  • HRA is admissible as per CSIR rules

Selection Process

Selection is done through a walk-in interview at CSIR-CGCRI Kolkata:

  1. Document Verification: You must report at least one hour before the scheduled interview time. Original mark sheets, certificates, age proof and caste proof must be brought for verification
  2. Walk-in Interview: Held on 15 June 2026 at 2:30 PM at the institute

No candidate will be allowed to enter after the reporting time. Candidates currently engaged in any project at CSIR-CGCRI or another institute must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their Project Leader.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory experiments on fabrication of monolithic ceramic catalysts under the project
  • Prepare and characterise ceramic materials using standard processing techniques
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental data, observations and project progress
  • Assist senior scientists in developing membrane and ceramic catalyst systems
  • Help in writing technical reports, research papers and project documentation
  • Operate laboratory instruments and follow safety protocols at the institute
  • Coordinate with the project team for procurement of consumables and equipment maintenance

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc in Chemistry (Physical/Inorganic), Materials Science, or Nanoscience; OR B.E./B.Tech in Ceramic / Metallurgy & Materials Engineering / Material Science / Nanoscience and Technology / Chemical Engineering from a recognised university

Preferred Qualification

Knowledge in ceramic materials processing or membrane technology

Required Skills

Salary & Compensation

Pay Scale

Rs. 25,000 - Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA as per CSIR rules

Allowances

HRA as admissible per CSIR rules. Higher stipend (Rs. 31,000) for candidates qualified through CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship)/GATE or national-level exams conducted by Central Government departments.
