CNCI Specialist Grade & Scientist-B Recruitment 2026

CNCI is hiring 8 Specialists and Scientists for its hospital and research units in Kolkata. If you have an MD/DNB in Radiology or Preventive Medicine, or a Master's degree/Ph.D. in Life Sciences, you can apply offline for these regular, direct-recruitment posts. Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) Specialist and Scientist-B Recruitment 2026 - 8 Posts

The Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has released a notification for 8 posts across Specialist Grade-I, Specialist Grade-II, and Scientist-B categories at its Kolkata campuses. These are regular, direct recruitment posts — not contractual — spread across radiology, preventive oncology, and five research disciplines. Doctors with post-PG experience in radio-diagnosis or preventive medicine, and researchers with a strong publication record, should apply. You can apply for only one discipline, and CNCI may hold a screening interview if too many candidates apply for a single post.

Vacancy Details

The 5 Scientist-B posts are split one each across Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, Structural Biology, and Multiomics. Of these, 3 are for General category, 1 for OBC, and 1 for SC candidates.

Who Can Apply?

Specialist Grade-I (Radiology) - Level 13:

• You need an MCI-recognized MD/DNB or equivalent PG degree in Radio-diagnosis with 9 years of post-PG experience in the field.
• Experience at a Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Regional Cancer Centre, or teaching hospital is desirable, along with research publications or fellowships.

Specialist Grade-II (Radiology and Preventive Oncology) - Level 11:

• For Radiology, you need an MCI-recognized MD/DNB or equivalent PG degree in Radio-diagnosis with 3 years post-PG experience.
• For Preventive Oncology, you need an MD/DNB or equivalent in Preventive & Social Medicine, Community Medicine, Radiotherapy, Gynaecology, ENT, Surgery, or General Medicine with 3 years post-PG experience in Preventive Oncology.

Scientist-B - Level 10:

• You need a Master's degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Physics, Bio-physics, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacology, Epidemiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or Biotechnology, OR a recognized medical qualification.
• You also need a Ph.D. in the relevant subject (for non-medical candidates) or a postgraduate medical degree in the specialty (for medical candidates).
• You need 3 years of research or teaching experience after your qualification, backed by peer-reviewed publications.

Age Limit

• Specialist Grade-I (Radiology): up to 50 years
• Specialist Grade-II (Radiology and Preventive Oncology): up to 45 years
• Scientist-B: up to 40 years
• Age is calculated as on the last date of receipt of application. Age relaxation applies as per Government of India norms, but SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against a UR post get no relaxation and are judged on the General merit list only.

Salary

• Specialist Grade-I (Radiology): Level 13 (Rs. 1,23,100 - Rs. 2,15,900 per month) plus NPA and other allowances.
• Specialist Grade-II (Radiology and Preventive Oncology): Level 11 (Rs. 67,700 - Rs. 2,08,700 per month) plus NPA and other allowances.
• Scientist-B: Level 10 (Rs. 56,100 - Rs. 1,77,500 per month) plus other allowances.

• General / OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) / EWS: Rs. 1,000 (non-refundable)
• SC / ST / PwD / Ex-Servicemen: No fee
• Payment mode: Net Banking or UPI to the CNCI bank account mentioned in the notification.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Screening/Shortlisting: If the number of applications is high, CNCI may hold a screening interview to shortlist candidates.
2. Personal Interview
3. Document Verification

Final selection is based on merit position, available vacancies, and verification of original documents. If you are currently employed with a Government Department, PSU, or Autonomous Body, you must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview.
