ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) Young Professional-II Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

ICAR-CMFRI, headquartered in Kochi, is one of India's premier fisheries research institutes under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), working across mariculture, fish health, and marine biodiversity. It has released a notification to fill 1 Young Professional-II post under a DBT-funded project titled "Ultrasound- and enzyme-assisted production of low-molecular weight alginate oligosaccharides from Sargassum wightii and Turbinaria ornata as immunomodulatory feed additive for sustainable health management of Silver pompano", within its Marine Biotechnology, Fish Nutrition and Health Division. The project is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, and studies how seaweed-derived compounds can boost immunity and manage disease in farmed Silver pompano fish. This is a purely contractual position for one year, extendable up to three years, and is co-terminus with the project — meaning it ends automatically once the project ends, with no claim to a permanent position at CMFRI. Candidates with a background in fish nutrition, aquaculture or marine biology are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Master's degree (M.F.Sc, M.V.Sc or M.Sc) in Fish Health, Fish Nutrition, Fish Physiology and Biochemistry, Aquaculture, Zoology, Biotechnology, Fisheries Science, Marine Biology or Marine Microbiology, with at least 60% marks.
• Desirable: Work experience in fish nutrition, biochemistry, molecular biology or microbiology, and the ability to swim.

Age Limit

• You should be between 21 and 45 years old, with relaxations as per government rules.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated salary of Rs. 42,000 per month, as per revised ICAR guidelines.

Selection Process

The selection has just one stage:

1. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be informed by email about the date and time. Only those who receive this communication can appear for the interview on 23 July 2026 at CMFRI, Kochi. You must bring a valid ID proof, and if your marks are recorded as CGPA/OGPA, your university's approved conversion table — otherwise your candidature will not be considered.

Note: If a close relative works at ICAR-CMFRI, you must declare this in writing (Annexure-II) before the interview date — if you don't and it is later discovered, you will not be interviewed. If you have no such relative, you must still submit this declaration on the day of the interview. You must also produce a No Objection Certificate from your current employer, if applicable. This is a purely contractual position with no claim to regularization or permanent employment at ICAR-CMFRI, and no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. All results and communications will only be shared by email, and the decision of the Director, ICAR-CMFRI, is final and binding in all respects.
