City Civil Court, Bengaluru is hiring for 22 posts of Stenographer Grade-III, Typist, Driver, Process Server and Peon under the Kalyana Karnataka Region (371-J Local Cadre). City Civil Court Bengaluru 371-J Recruitment 2026 - 22 Posts
The Office of the City Civil Court, Bengaluru (Notification No. ADM-I(A)/429/2026) has invited online applications to fill 22 vacancies across five posts under the 371-J Local Cadre of the Kalyana Karnataka region. This is a direct recruitment made under the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) Recruitment Rules, 1982 (as amended in 2007 and 2021). Candidates claiming reservation under 371-J must hold a valid 371-J Eligibility Certificate. Both freshers and experienced candidates who can read and write Kannada can apply.

Who Can Apply?
Stenographer Grade-III (Rs. 44,425 - 83,700)
- You must have passed PUC or a 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice (or equivalent), and
- Passed the Senior Typewriting and Senior Shorthand examinations in both Kannada and English.
Typist (Rs. 34,100 - 67,600)
- You must have passed PUC or a 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice (or equivalent), and
- Passed Senior Typewriting in both Kannada and English, or hold a Diploma in Secretarial Practice.
Driver (Rs. 34,100 - 67,600)
- You must have passed SSLC (10th), and
- Hold a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
Process Server (Rs. 31,775 - 61,300)
- You must have passed SSLC (10th). Preference is given to candidates who hold a driving licence.
Peon (Rs. 27,000 - 46,675)
- You must have passed the 10th Standard (SSLC) and be able to read and write Kannada.
Age Limit
- You must be at least 18 years old as on 30 July 2026 (the last date to apply).
- Maximum age: 40 years for General Merit, 43 years for Category IIA, IIB, IIIA and IIIB, and 45 years for SC, ST and Category-I.
- Extra relaxation: Persons with benchmark disability and widows get 10 years. Ex-servicemen get 3 years plus their years of service.
- A one-time additional relaxation of 5 years is allowed as per Government Order dated 29 January 2026.

- Stenographer Grade-III: Rs. 44,425 - Rs. 83,700 per month
- Typist: Rs. 34,100 - Rs. 67,600 per month
- Driver: Rs. 34,100 - Rs. 67,600 per month
- Process Server: Rs. 31,775 - Rs. 61,300 per month
- Peon: Rs. 27,000 - Rs. 46,675 per month
- You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Karnataka Government rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
There is no common written exam. Selection is based on your academic marks, a skill test and an interview:
- Stenographer Grade-III: Percentage of qualifying exam marks + a Skill Test of 100 marks (shorthand dictation at 120 words per minute for 5 minutes, transcribed within 45 minutes; pass mark is 50) + Interview (10 marks). Candidates up to 5 times the vacancies are called for interview.
- Typist: Percentage of qualifying exam marks + a Skill Test of 100 marks (typing a dictated passage; pass mark is 50) + Interview (10 marks). Shortlist ratio is 5 times the vacancies.
- Driver: An eligibility test of 50 marks (25 times the vacancies shortlisted) + Interview (10 marks).
- Process Server: Percentage of qualifying exam marks + Interview (10 marks). Shortlist ratio is 25 times the vacancies.
- Peon: Percentage of qualifying exam marks + Interview (10 marks). Shortlist ratio is 10 times the vacancies.
- Document Verification of certificates and reservation proofs.
If two candidates get equal marks, the older candidate is ranked higher.

Responsibilities
- Take dictation and prepare judgments, orders and official court records (Stenographer and Typist posts)
- Type case papers, notices and correspondence accurately in Kannada and English
- Serve summons, notices and court processes to parties on time (Process Server)
- Drive court vehicles safely and maintain them in good running condition (Driver)
- Handle file movement, deliver documents and assist officers with daily office work (Peon)
- Maintain confidentiality of court records and case information
- Follow the instructions of the Registrar and presiding officers of the court
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
10th Pass (SSLC) for Peon, Driver and Process Server; PUC or 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice plus Senior Typewriting/Shorthand (Kannada and English) for Typist and Stenographer Grade-III. Driver also needs a Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualification
Driving licence for Process Server; Diploma in Secretarial Practice for Typist.
Required Skills
Kannada and English typing/shorthand for Stenographer and Typist; heavy vehicle driving for Driver; ability to read and write Kannada for all posts.

Exam Pattern
There is no written test. For Stenographer Grade-III, you take a Skill Test of 100 marks - shorthand dictation at 120 words per minute for about 5 minutes, then transcribe within 45 minutes. The pass mark is 50.
For Typist, you take a Skill Test of 100 marks where you type a dictated passage. The pass mark is 50.
For Driver, there is an eligibility test of 50 marks. The final selection list is prepared using your qualifying exam percentage, skill/eligibility test marks and an interview of 10 marks.
