Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) ITI Instructor Recruitment 2026 — 474 Posts
Bihar Technical Service Commission (BTSC) has released 10 separate advertisements (Advt. No. 14/2026 to 22/2026) for regular appointment of ITI Instructors (Anudeshak) in various trades under the Science, Technology and Technical Education Department, Government of Bihar. These posts are for Government Engineering Colleges, Rajkiya Polytechnic institutions, and Rajkiya Mahila Polytechnic institutions across Bihar. The largest vacancy is in Electronics Mechanic/Mechanic Radio and TV trade with 130 posts. All posts are permanent (regular appointment).

Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification
- You must have completed a 1 or 2 year ITI course in the relevant trade from an institution recognised by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), Delhi, or the State Council for Vocational Training (SCVT), Patna.
- The trade must match the post you are applying for — for example, Surveyor trade ITI for the Surveyor Instructor post, Fitter trade for Fitter Instructor, and so on.
- Distance learning / correspondence ITI certificates are not accepted — only regular (full-time) ITI courses count.
Other Requirements
- Domicile: Reservation benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) are available only for Bihar domicile candidates. Candidates from outside Bihar can apply but will not get reservation.
- Work Experience: Experience working as a contractual Instructor under the Science, Technology and Technical Education Department, Bihar gives additional marks in the selection process.
- Your Matriculation (10th) certificate will be used for age verification.
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 18 years (as on 01 August 2026)
- Maximum age for Unreserved (General) male candidates: 37 years
- Maximum age for Unreserved women: 40 years
- Maximum age for OBC / EBC (male and female): 40 years
- Maximum age for SC / ST (male and female): 42 years
- Age relaxation for PwD (Divyang): 10 extra years (as per General Administration Dept. letter No. 962 dated 22.01.2021)
- Age relaxation for regular government servants (who have completed 3 years of service): 5 extra years for entry into higher pay services
- Contractual employees of the Science, Tech and Technical Education Department get age relaxation equal to the service period as per contractual appointment cut-off date 01.08.2026
Salary
- Pay Level: Pay Level 6 (7th Pay Commission)
- Entry Pay: Rs. 35,400 per month
- You will also receive DA (Dearness Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance), TA (Travel Allowance), and other allowances as per Bihar Government rules.

Selection Process
Selection will be done in 2 stages:
- Written Competitive Exam (Computer Based Test — CBT): 100 questions for 100 marks, 2 hours duration. All questions are Multiple Choice (MCQ). Questions will be in both Hindi and English. Questions will be based on the syllabus set by the department and published on btsc.bihar.gov.in. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Candidates must score at least 60% of the total marks to qualify (minimum cut-off may differ by category — OBC/EBC: 36.5%, SC/ST/Women/PwD: 34%, 32% for SC/ST). The exam may be held in multiple shifts and results will be normalised.
- Work Experience Marks (Karyaanubhav): Up to 25 marks are added for contractual service experience in the Science, Technology and Technical Education Department, Bihar — calculated at 5 marks per year of service, maximum 6 months counted as 1 year, less than 1 month counted as 0. You must fill in your experience in the online application and attach a salary payment certificate (Appendix-1 format) from the Principal of the institution you worked at, dated up to 15 April 2026.
Final merit = Written exam marks (normalised) + Work experience marks. Total out of 100.
After the written exam, eligible candidates will be called for Document Verification.

Responsibilities
- Teach assigned ITI trade subjects to students in Government Polytechnic and Engineering College institutions across Bihar
- Prepare lesson plans, practical demonstrations, and teaching materials for the trade syllabus
- Conduct practical sessions in the workshop and ensure safe use of tools and equipment
- Evaluate students through tests, practicals, and regular assessments as per the curriculum
- Maintain attendance records, workshop registers, and other required documentation
- Guide students on trade skills, career options, and industrial practices relevant to their ITI trade
- Follow departmental guidelines and participate in institutional activities as directed by the Principal
