BRIC-THSTI Junior Data Scientist Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (BRIC-THSTI) works under the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology. It will fill this short-term project position through Recruitment Notice THS-C/RN/16/2026 dated 17 August 2026. The opening sits at the Clinical Development Services Agency (CDSA), a BRIC-THSTI centre that supports clinical studies, data management, analysis and affordable health-product development.

The selected Junior Data Scientist will work on the project “Effects of extreme heat on maternal, placental and fetal physiology, lactation and newborn health in India” under Dr. Nitya Wadhwa. This role combines practical data preparation with statistical analysis, visualization, reproducible documentation and machine-learning work. Only one post is available, and the number can change if the project's actual requirement changes before selection.

Who Can Apply?

• Route 1: You can apply with B.Tech, M.Sc or M.Tech in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics or Applied Mathematics from a recognized university.
• Route 2: You can apply with B.Sc in one of those fields plus at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in biostatistics or data science.
• Preferred experience: Experience in computer programming for data analysis and in managing large datasets will help.
• Preferred software: Previous use of the R statistical programming software is desirable.
• Analytical ability: You should be able to interpret and present complex clinical data clearly.

The higher-degree route does not carry a separate experience condition in the notice, while the B.Sc route expressly needs two years after qualification.
