Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Advertisement No. 07/2026 for direct recruitment to 22 Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical) posts in Bihar Police Radio (Wireless), Patna. Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

  • Height: Unreserved / BC — minimum 165 cm
  • Height: EBC / SC / ST — minimum 160 cm
  • Chest (Unreserved / BC / EBC): 81 cm normal, 86 cm expanded (minimum 5 cm expansion)
  • Chest (SC / ST): 79 cm normal, 84 cm expanded (minimum 5 cm expansion)

For Female Candidates (All Categories)

  • Height: minimum 155 cm
  • Minimum Weight: 48 kg
  • No chest measurement

Third-gender candidates will be measured as per Backward Class male standards.

Selection Process

Selection is in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Written Examination: 100 marks objective MCQ paper, 2 hours duration. 40 questions from General Knowledge & Current Affairs + 60 questions from your chosen group (Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Tele Communication / Information Technology / Electrical & Electronics). Minimum qualifying marks: 30%. Top 20 times the vacancies (category-wise) are called for the Mains.
  2. Main Written Examination (Two Papers):
  3. Paper 1 — General Language: 100 marks (50 Hindi + 50 English), Intermediate level, 1.5 hours. Minimum 30 marks qualifying. This paper is qualifying only and not added to final merit.
  4. Paper 2 — Technical Subject: 100 MCQs, 100 marks, 3 hours, Polytechnic level. Minimum 33% qualifying. Top 5 times the vacancies called for PET.
  5. Physical Efficiency / Endurance Test (PET) — Qualifying Only:
  6. Running (Male): 1 mile (1.6 km) in 7 minutes
  7. Running (Female): 1 km in 7 minutes
  8. High Jump (Male): 3 feet 6 inches; (Female): 2 feet 6 inches
  9. Long Jump (Male): 10 feet; (Female): 7 feet
  10. Shot Put (Male): 16 pound, 14 feet; (Female): 12 pound, 8 feet
  11. Medical Examination & Character Verification

Negative marking: 0.2 marks deducted per wrong answer in both prelims and mains.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wireless communication equipment of Bihar Police Radio network
  • Handle radio sets, repeaters, antennas and base stations across police stations and control rooms
  • Carry out fault detection, repair and routine maintenance of communication systems
  • Assist in setting up wireless networks for VIP duty, law and order and emergency operations
  • Maintain duty registers, call records and equipment inventory at the unit
  • Support senior officers in cyber and technical surveillance work as assigned
  • Follow Bihar Police service rules, discipline and confidentiality protocols
  • Train and supervise junior wireless staff posted under your charge

Normalisation: If multiple shifts are held, marks will be normalised using the Equi-Percentile Method.
