Berhampur University is hiring 95 regular faculty members across its PG Departments and Lingaraj Law College in Odisha. This includes 19 Professor, 38 Associate Professor, and 38 Assistant Professor posts (including backlog vacancies). Berhampur University Faculty Recruitment 2026 - 95 Posts

Berhampur University, a state university under the Higher Education Department of the Government of Odisha, has released notifications 3262, 3263 and 3264/Admn.I(TE)/BU/2026 dated 28 April 2026 to fill up regular teaching positions across 20+ disciplines. There is no written exam — selection is based on screening and a presentation-based interview as per UGC norms. Both freshers (with Ph.D./NET) and experienced academics can apply, since posts range from Assistant Professor up to Professor.

Vacancy Breakdown

A total of 95 posts are open across three faculty levels:

  • Professor (Notification 3262): 19 posts in 19 departments including Business Administration, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, English, History, Mathematics, Zoology and Lingaraj Law College
  • Associate Professor (Notification 3263): 38 posts across 22 departments including Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Law, Physics, Political Science and Zoology
  • Assistant Professor (Notification 3264): 38 posts across 22 departments including Botany, English, History, Law, Physics, Mathematics and the Women's Studies Research Centre

Posts marked (W) prefer women candidates. As per the addendum dated 20 May 2026, women reservation is horizontal — if no suitable woman candidate is available, the post can be filled by a male candidate of the same category. So male candidates can also apply for (W) posts.

Who Can Apply?

For Professor (Pay Level 14)

  • A Ph.D. in the relevant subject with at least 10 research publications in UGC-listed journals and a research score of 120, plus 10 years of teaching/research experience as Assistant/Associate/Professor
  • OR an outstanding professional with a Ph.D. and significant contribution to the field, with 10 years' experience

For Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A)

  • A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline and a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD)
  • At least 8 years of teaching/research experience, with 7 publications in UGC-listed journals and a research score of 75

For Assistant Professor (Pay Level 10)

  • A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (50% relaxation for reserved categories) in the relevant subject
  • You must have cleared NET / SLET / SET, OR hold a Ph.D. awarded as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations (with the required exemption conditions)

SC/ST/SEBC candidates must submit caste certificates and PwD candidates must submit disability certificates in the Government of Odisha format.

Age Limit

  • There is no specific minimum age mentioned.
  • Candidates above 60 years are not eligible to apply (superannuation age is 60 years).

Salary

  • Professor: Pay Level 14 of the 7th CPC — academic pay range up to Rs. 2,18,200 per month
  • Associate Professor: Pay Level 13A of the 7th CPC, starting around Rs. 1,31,400 per month
  • Assistant Professor: Pay Level 10 of the 7th CPC, starting at Rs. 57,700 per month
  • You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Government of Odisha rules.

  • SC / ST / PwD / Women candidates: Rs. 1,000
  • Payment mode: Online only (non-refundable). You must pay the fee separately for each post you apply to.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done in the following stages:

  1. Screening / Scrutiny: All applications received by the due date are screened. A list of eligible and ineligible candidates is published on the website.
  2. Shortlisting: For a single post, a maximum of 15 candidates are called for interview. For multiple posts, candidates are called in a 1:10 ratio based on academic scores (UGC Notification 18 July 2018, Appendix-II).
  3. Interview (Presentation-based): Shortlisted candidates appear with a 9-slide PPT covering biodata, subject strength, practical skills, use of AI in teaching, research projects and collaborations. The decision is based on the interview performance.

No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview. Candidates must bring original documents.

  • Carry out original research and publish papers in UGC-listed journals
  • Apply for and manage funded research projects and academic collaborations
  • Take part in department committees, admissions and university administrative work
