The Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya has released notification number Health.121/2025/Pt/33 for 8 faculty posts across various departments of the new Shillong Medical College. This is a rolling-based advertisement — interviews will be conducted in phases as experts and complete documents become available. Retired faculty and doctors from private medical colleges, Institutes of National Importance (INIs), and other government medical colleges across India can also apply.

Who Can Apply?

Your eligibility is decided as per the NMC Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) 2025 guidelines and the latest amendments.

For Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject. For preclinical subjects like Anatomy and Physiology, MSc with PhD is also accepted.
• Experience: You must have worked as an Associate Professor in the subject for 3 years in a recognised medical institution.
• Research: At least 2 research publications after becoming Associate Professor (you must be among the first three authors).
• You must have completed the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a recognised medical institution.

For Associate Professor Posts

• Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned subject.
• Experience: You must have worked as an Assistant Professor for 5 years in a recognised medical institution (or 6 years if appointed directly as Assistant Professor in a Government medical institution).
• Research: At least 2 research publications after becoming Assistant Professor (among the first three authors).

All candidates must have an updated NMC/State Medical Council registration with all post-MBBS/MD/MS qualifications.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 70 years (as on 30 April 2026).
• The maximum tenure of engagement will be till 70 years of age or the years of contract, whichever is earlier.

Salary

• Professor: Rs. 3,20,000 per month (fixed consolidated remuneration, without any added allowance).
• Associate Professor: Rs. 2,60,000 per month (fixed consolidated remuneration, without any added allowance).

Selection Process

There is no written exam. Selection is done through:

1. Document Verification: Your certificates and experience documents are checked against the original before the interview.
2. Interview: Selection is made by the Selection Board based on your academic credentials and your performance in the offline interview.
3. Medical Fitness: You must be declared medically fit by the constituted Medical Board.

Mode of interview is offline. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. The result will be displayed on the Shillong Medical College website and the offer of appointment will be sent by email.

1. Fill in the application form (Annexure-I) given in the official notification.
2. Affix your passport-size photograph and attach all self-attested documents (MBBS/MD marksheets, NMC registration, publications, experience certificates, Aadhaar, etc.).
3. Combine everything into a single PDF file — multiple submissions will not be considered.
4. Email the scanned copy to shgmedicalcollege@gmail.com with the subject line "Application for the Position of Professor 'or' Associate Professor at Shillong Medical College, Shillong".
5. Submit a separate application for each post. Send it before 5:00 PM on 31 May 2026.

• Mark attendance daily on the Aadhaar Enabled Bio-metric Attendance System (AEBAS)
• Take part in department meetings and college academic activities
