Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released notification (Advt. No. IISER-K/Admn./NT-01/2026) for 1 Assistant Registrar post on direct recruitment basis. This is a Group A position for the Internal Audit Section, ideal for experienced administrative or accounts officers from government and educational institutions. The post is permanent with a one-year probation period.

Who Can Apply?

• Educational Qualification: Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade where the grading system is followed) from a recognised university.
• Experience: Five years of experience in Pay Level-7 or above, OR 7 years at Pay Level-6 or above, as Superintendent / Section Officer / Private Secretary or equivalent in handling Administrative / Finance & Accounting / Academic / Legal / Statutory / Audit / Stores & Purchase / Establishment matters in Central or State Government, government-funded educational institutes, universities or comparable research establishments.
• Citizenship: You must be a citizen of India.

Desirable: Experience in internal audit, finance, accounts, budgeting and statutory compliance, plus knowledge of GoI financial rules (GFR, FR&SR, CCS Rules), e-Office, ERP/SAMARTH/PFMS and CAG/internal/statutory audits. Women candidates are encouraged to apply.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 40 years as on the closing date of the online application (22 June 2026).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates get relaxation as per Government of India norms, only against reserved vacancies. No age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against this Unreserved post.
• PwBD candidates with minimum 40% disability (One Arm, One Leg, Blind, Low Vision, Hearing Impaired) are eligible to apply.

Salary

• Pay Level-10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix - starting around Rs. 56,100 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as admissible to Central Government employees posted in Kolkata.
• The post is covered under the New Pension Scheme with Medical, LTC and other benefits as per Institute/GoI norms.

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 950 application fee + Rs. 50 registration fee).
• SC / ST / PwD / Women / Ex-servicemen: Rs. 50 (only the registration fee; the Rs. 950 application fee is waived).
• Payment mode: Online through the payment gateway. The fee is non-refundable.

Selection Process

Selection is based on the following:

1. Shortlisting: The Institute screens applications based on qualification and experience. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a call. Where applications are large, the Institute may shortlist using higher qualifications/experience.
2. Interview / Written Test / Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates are called for the interview or any other selection process decided by the Institute.
3. Document Verification & Medical Fitness: Final selection is subject to verification of documents, character & antecedents and medical fitness.
