About This Job

BITS Pilani is hiring 1 Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) for a research project funded by the Government of Norway at its Pilani campus in Rajasthan. If you have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (or have submitted your thesis), you can apply by email. The fellowship is Rs. 70,000 per month plus an extra Rs. 10,000 per month for research expenses. BITS Pilani Postdoctoral Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani) has opened 1 Postdoctoral Fellow position under Prof. Mani Sankar Dasgupta in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The work is part of an Indo-Norwegian project called Sustainable Cooling and Heating in India (INDEE3), which runs for 36 months. This is a great chance to work in an international research team on real-world climate and sustainability problems. Who Can Apply?

  • Preferred background: Experience in experimental or theoretical work, advanced simulation, system modelling, or thermal system design will help your application.

Salary

  • You will get a fellowship of Rs. 70,000 per month.
  • On top of that, you get Rs. 10,000 per month for research consumables and contingency.
  • This is a project-based contract post, so normal government service benefits do not apply.

There is no written exam for this post. Selection is based on:

Responsibilities

  • Carry out advanced research on sustainable cooling and heating systems under the INDEE3 project
  • Run experimental and theoretical investigations on refrigeration and heat pump technologies
  • Build models and run simulations using CFD and other tools
  • Work with academic and industrial partners in the Indo-Norwegian research team
  • Prepare research papers and reports for journals and project deliverables
  • Support technology development work linked to sustainability and climate goals

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

PhD in Mechanical Engineering or allied discipline (thesis submitted acceptable)

Preferred Qualification

Strong publication record in Refrigeration, Thermal Engineering, Energy Systems, Heat Pumps, Sustainable Cooling, CFD, or Modelling and Simulation
