BEL Probationary Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the Navratna defence electronics company under the Ministry of Defence, is hiring Probationary Engineers in the E-II grade through an all-India open advertisement. BEL makes radars, military communication systems, naval systems, electronic warfare equipment, tank electronics and electro-optics, and these engineers will join the production and support services departments of its units. The notice asks for no prior work experience, so recent graduates and working engineers compete on the same footing through a computer based test and an interview.

This is a regular, full-time PSU job with a probation and training period at the start. Engineers from Electronics-family branches and Mechanical Engineering are covered in one combined advertisement, and both streams follow the same test, the same dates and the same service conditions.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Probationary Engineer (Electronics), E-II Grade: the larger stream, open to graduates in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Communication and Telecommunication.
  • Probationary Engineer (Mechanical), E-II Grade: open only to graduates in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Units where you may join: Bangalore (Karnataka), Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Pune, Nagpur and Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra), Hyderabad and Ibrahimpatnam (Telangana), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Palasamudram, Nimmaluru and Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Panchkula (Haryana) and Kotdwara (Uttarakhand).
  • PwBD posts: both streams carry posts and backlog posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities. The disability types identified differ slightly by stream — for example, autism spectrum disorder (mild) is listed only for the Mechanical stream.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Training and bond: You first go through 6 months of orientation and on-the-job training, then sign a service agreement to work for BEL for 2 years. Breaking the agreement costs Rs. 2,00,000.
  • Posting: BEL can post you to any unit, office or department in India based on company needs, without any cut in pay.
  • Medical fitness: Your appointment depends on passing BEL's own medical standards. Candidates with colour blindness are not suitable for either stream.
  • Exact branch match: The specialisation on your degree certificate must match the branch you pick in the form. Other equivalent disciplines and dual specialisations are not accepted.
  • CGPA holders: Bring the percentage conversion certificate or formula from your university to the interview; without it, your candidature is cancelled.
  • Category certificates: The EWS certificate must be based on FY 2025-26 income and issued on or after 1 April 2026. The OBC (NCL) certificate must be in the central government format and issued on or after 1 October 2025. PwBD claims need at least 40% disability.
  • Current government or PSU staff: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer to the interview.
  • BEL insiders: Trainee, project and fixed-tenure engineers working at BEL, and children of BEL employees, must apply as external candidates. Trainee and project engineers must also inform their unit HR before the interview.
  • Pay revision: The E-II basic pay scale is due for revision from 1 January 2027.
  • Post count can change: BEL may increase or reduce the number of posts in each stream at the time of recruitment.
  • Travel: No travel cost is paid for the computer based test. Outstation candidates called for the interview get to-and-fro AC Chair Car or III Tier AC train fare by the shortest route.
  • Fraud warning: BEL charges nothing apart from the application fee. Ignore anyone who asks for money in exchange for a job.

Application Submission Notes

The application is online only, through the registration link in the Careers section of bel-india.in. Registration sends an Application Sequence Number and password to your email and mobile; you then log back in to finish the form, upload your photo and signature, and pay. Do not post a hard copy to BEL — just keep the printout and payment slip.

  • Test centres: Pick 5 centres near your correspondence address from the list in the notice. You cannot change them later.
  • One form only: If you submit twice, only the form with the higher Application Sequence Number counts, and a fee paid on one form is not moved to another.
  • Category is final: The category you choose in the form cannot be changed after submission.
  • Help: Use the Helpdesk tab inside the portal or call 9152028159 (Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM). Other channels are not answered.
  • Updates: Any corrigendum or date extension will appear in the Careers section of bel-india.in, so check it regularly.
