AVFU Laboratory Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Assam Veterinary and Fisheries University (AVFU), Khanapara, Guwahati has released a recruitment notice for 1 Laboratory Assistant post in the Department of Animal Biotechnology. The position is under the ICMR-funded Institutional Support Project on "Capacity building and development of skilled human resources in the field of Zoonotic Disease under One Health initiatives". The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, initially for 11 months. Candidates willing to travel across Assam for animal disease data collection are preferred.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification (any one of the following)

• Option 1: 12th (H.S.) in Science + Diploma (MLT/DMLT/Engineering or equivalent) + 5 years experience in the relevant field.
• Option 2: 3-year Graduate degree in a relevant subject/field + 2 years experience in the relevant subject.

Desirable Skills

• Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, Excel)
• Working experience in a Molecular or Microbiology Laboratory, or biological sample/data collection
• Preference to candidates with animal cell culture experience who can undertake extensive travel across Assam for sample collection and training

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 30 years
• Age Relaxation: Available for SC / ST / OBC candidates as per Government of India rules.

Salary

• Monthly emoluments: Rs. 20,000 per month + 10% HRA (as admissible).
• Project duration: 11 months initially, extendable based on performance and project requirements.
• The post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Selection Process

Selection will happen in two stages:

1. Shortlisting from Applications: Based on your BIODATA and uploaded certificates submitted through the Google Form.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview on 5 June 2026 at the AVFU Khanapara office. You will be informed by email or phone on 2 June 2026.

No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview.

• Handle laboratory work in the Department of Animal Biotechnology at AVFU

• Help conduct training programmes for capacity building activities under the project
