The Department of Microbiology at AIIMS Jodhpur has released a notification for 2 posts under the extramural research project "Development of Innovative Diagnostics for Fungal Disease in India: Addressing a Neglected Public Health Concern," led by Principal Investigator Dr. Vidhi Jain, Additional Professor in the Department of Microbiology. Both posts are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project — they run for 9 months and carry no right to permanent employment. Fungal infections are often under-diagnosed in rural India, so this project focuses on building better diagnostic capacity and disease-tracking data across villages in Rajasthan. Candidates with a microbiology or medical lab technology background, or field survey experience in public health, are ideal for these roles.

Who Can Apply?

For Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical):

• Qualification: Postgraduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees); PhD in Microbiology is preferred.
• Desirable: PhD in Medical Microbiology, MSc in Microbiology, or lab experience in mycology.
• Work: Based at AIIMS Jodhpur, with fungal diagnostics, PCR testing, and coordination duties.

For Project Technical Support-II (Field Work):

• Qualification: 12th in Science + Diploma (MLT/DMLT) with 5 years' relevant experience, OR a 3-year Graduate degree with 2 years' relevant experience.
• Desirable: M.Sc Microbiology with lab experience, preferably in medical mycology.
• Work: Based at AIIMS Jodhpur, with extensive field visits to health camps across Rajasthan.

Age Limit

• For Project Research Scientist-I, you should be up to 35 years old.
• For Project Technical Support-II, the age limit is specified in the official notification, with the same relaxation rules applying.
• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India rules; extra concession may apply for experience gained in other research projects, decided case-by-case.
• Age, education, and experience are all considered as on the last date of the advertisement (18 August 2026).

Salary

• Project Research Scientist-I: Rs. 56,000 + 20% HRA per month (consolidated)
• Project Technical Support-II: Rs. 20,000 + 20% HRA per month (consolidated)
• These are consolidated payments based on your experience and qualifications — no other allowances apply.
• Both posts run for 9 months, co-terminus with the project, and do not carry any right to a permanent position or transfer to another project.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is through an interview only — there is no written test:

1. Interview: Candidates for Project Research Scientist-I may opt for an online interview. Candidates for Project Technical Support-II must appear for a walk-in interview.
2. Both interviews are scheduled for 21 August 2026 at 9:00 AM, with reporting closing at 9:30 AM the same day — late candidates will not be entertained.

If you are currently working in a Government department or Public Sector Undertaking, you must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview. No travel allowance (TA/DA) is paid for attending the interview, and canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
