AIIMS New Delhi Senior Project Associate Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has invited applications for 1 Senior Project Associate / Project Associate-I position in the Division of Genetics, Department of Pediatrics, for a DBT-funded project (BT 2196) studying pediatric rare genetic disorders. Candidates with strong genomics and bioinformatics skills are encouraged to apply — this is a great opportunity if you have hands-on experience with DNA/RNA sequencing analysis and want to work at a premier medical research institute.

Pediatric rare genetic disorders are notoriously difficult to diagnose and treat, and this DBT-funded mission program aims to build genomic analysis capacity to better understand these conditions and eventually improve patient outcomes. Working in the Division of Genetics, based at the Mother and Child Block, gives you exposure to real clinical genomic data alongside experienced researchers and clinicians at one of India's top medical institutes. This role is well suited to candidates who want to strengthen their bioinformatics and genomics research profile before moving into a PhD or a longer-term research career.

Who Can Apply?

You can qualify through any one of the following routes:

  • Qualification: Master's degree in Natural/Life Science from a recognized university, OR a PhD in Genomics/Bioinformatics/Life Sciences (or equivalent), OR an M.Sc/M.Tech in Bioinformatics/Human Genetics with at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
  • Preferred Experience: 4 years analyzing genomic sequencing data — including DNA sequencing, RNA-Seq and whole-genome sequencing — with familiarity in genomic databases, protocols and pipelines. Skills in tools like FastQC, Trimmomatic, and HISAT2 for quality control, alignment, quantification and analysis are a big plus.
  • Also Preferred: Experience in Molecular/Cell Biology, Sanger sequencing, and NGS analysis.
