About This Job

AIIMS Delhi Project Research Scientist Recruitment 2026 — 1 Post
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Ansari Nagar, New Delhi is India's premier medical institution and a top choice for researchers in the biomedical sciences. The Department of Pathology at AIIMS New Delhi is now hiring a Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) for an ICMR-funded project titled "Multiplexed Spatially Resolved Analysis of Protein Signature of the Invasive Front of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma". This research project focuses on studying protein signatures at the invasive front of oral cancer to better understand tumour progression. Who Can Apply?
You need a post-graduate degree in Life Sciences to apply for this post. The notification mentions two qualification routes — you need to meet at least one of them:
- Route 1: First Class Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences, including integrated PG degrees such as M.Sc., M.Tech in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related subjects
- Route 2: Second Class Post Graduate Degree in Life Sciences (including integrated PG degrees) along with a PhD in a relevant discipline
In simple terms, if you have a first-class M.Sc. you can apply directly. If your M.Sc. is second class, you will also need a PhD to be eligible.
Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following skills will give you an advantage during shortlisting:
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and tissue processing
- Experience in analysis of NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) data including bioinformatics tools and pipelines
- Familiarity with spatial proteomics or multiplexed imaging technologies is a plus
Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years
- Age relaxation is available as per Government of India norms:
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years relaxation
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
- PwBD candidates: 10 years relaxation
- Other relaxations as per GoI rules may also apply
Salary
- Base salary: Rs. 56,000 per month (consolidated) as per ICMR norms for Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): As applicable — for Delhi (classified as X city under 7th CPC), HRA can be up to 30%, which means an additional Rs. 16,800 per month
- Total take-home: Approximately Rs. 72,800 per month including HRA
- Please note that benefits like Provident Fund, pension, Leave Travel Concession, medical claims, staff quarters, and other facilities applicable to regular AIIMS employees are not available for project staff
- The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project

Selection Process

Responsibilities
- Handle multiplexed spatially resolved protein analysis experiments on oral cancer tissue samples
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for protein signature profiling using advanced imaging techniques
- Assist in data collection, analysis, and interpretation of NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) results
- Manage laboratory records, maintain research databases, and document experimental protocols
- Work with the research team to study protein signatures at the invasive front of oral squamous cell carcinoma
- Follow standard molecular biology and laboratory safety protocols at all times
- Prepare research reports, presentations, and assist in drafting research publications
