About This Job

AIIMS Bhopal is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a research project funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in the Department of Translational Medicine. If you have a Post Graduate degree in Basic Science (or a professional course) along with CSIR-UGC NET or GATE, you can apply. AIIMS Bhopal JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal has released advertisement No. AIIMS/BPL/TM/2026/2593 to fill 1 Junior Research Fellow post in the Department of Translational Medicine. The role is under a DBT-funded project titled Engineering a 3-D vascularized bioprinted ovarian cancer stem cell-based organoid-on-a-chip platform for drug screening application, guided by Principal Investigator Dr. Neha Arya. This is a purely temporary, project-based job, which makes it a great start for young science graduates who want hands-on work in cancer biology, stem cells and tissue engineering. The first appointment runs till 31 March 2027 and can be extended for the full project duration of 3 years, based on your performance and the availability of funds. Either side can end the contract with 30 days' notice, and the Institute does not provide any hostel or accommodation.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • You must have a Post Graduate degree in Basic Science, OR a Graduate / Post Graduate degree in a Professional Course.
  • Along with the degree, you must be selected through one of these routes:
    • A National Eligibility Test — CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship) or GATE, OR
    • A national-level exam conducted by central government bodies such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER or NISER.
  • The listed qualification is only the minimum. Just having it does not guarantee selection — you still have to clear the test and interview.

Desirable Skills (Preferred, Not Compulsory)

  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, 3-D culture and stem cells
  • Experience with scaffold synthesis, molecular biology techniques and microfluidics
  • Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years (as on 14 July 2026, the last date to apply).
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC candidates get relaxation as per Government of India rules.
  • Extra age concession is also given to retrenched government employees, ex-servicemen, and for time you have already spent working on research projects, as decided by the selection committee.

Salary

  • Fixed fellowship: Rs. 37,000 per month.
  • House Rent Allowance: 18% HRA (Rs. 6,660 per month).
  • Total in hand: Rs. 43,660 per month.

Selection Process

Based on the number of applications received, AIIMS Bhopal will first shortlist candidates. The selection is then done in these stages:

  1. Written Test / Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates appear for a written or skill test on the technical areas of the project.
  2. Interview: A personal interview is taken by the selection committee.
  3. Document Verification: You must produce all your original certificates for checking.

The written test and interview will be held on 21 July 2026 at 9:00 AM at Savitri Bai Phule Bhavan (Nursing College Building), AIIMS Bhopal, Saket Nagar. No TA/DA will be paid for attending.

  • Design and carry out research experiments assigned by the Principal Investigator and analyse the data
  • Collect and process samples for the project
  • Perform laboratory experiments as per the project requirements
  • Assist in buying laboratory reagents and equipment
  • Present research work at conferences and seminars
  • Write manuscripts and review articles for publication
  • Handle any other project duties assigned by the PI or Co-Investigator
