About This Job

Apply for 1 Project Research Scientist-I post in ACTREC. Life sciences PG with 6 months experience eligible. Salary: Rs 72,800. Walk-in: 6 Nov 2026.

ACTREC Project Research Scientist-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), the research and treatment campus of Tata Memorial Centre at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, wants a Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) for a cancer proteomics study. ACTREC is a grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, so this is a government-funded research role, but it is a project post and not a permanent job.

The project is titled "Identification and validation of new potential protein biomarker panel for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using translational proteomics". In plain words, the team is trying to find a set of proteins that can help detect and track head and neck cancer, and then test whether those markers hold up in real patient samples.

Selection is through a walk-in interview, so there is no online form or written test. If you hold a life sciences master's degree and already have hands-on time in both patient recruitment and in-vitro proteomics, this post fits you well.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Experience is checked at the door: the notice says candidates without this experience will not be allowed to sit for the interview. Bring proof of both the patient-recruitment work and the proteomics lab work.
  • Two kinds of experience: you need experience in recruiting patients for study participation as well as in-vitro proteomics work; one without the other does not meet the condition.
  • Tenure: the engagement starts for six months and can be extended. ACTREC will review your work progress, and any extension after six months depends on that review.
  • Extra project work: besides the proteomics study, you will also be asked to do research work on other ongoing projects at the centre.
  • Pay structure: the pay is a consolidated amount that already includes 30% HRA, so there are no separate allowances on top.

Application Submission Notes

Report to Khanolkar Shodhika, Meeting Room 1, ACTREC, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai 410210 on Friday, 6 November 2026. Registration runs only between 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., so arriving late may cost you the interview.

Carry a recent CV, your original certificates with a set of photocopies, a passport-size photo and an ID proof. ACTREC prefers the Aadhaar card as ID.

Responsibilities

  • Run in-vitro proteomics experiments to identify protein biomarkers for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
  • Help validate the shortlisted protein biomarker panel in translational studies
  • Recruit patients for study participation and handle their enrolment records
  • Keep accurate lab notebooks and sample data for the project
  • Support research work on other ongoing projects at ACTREC
  • Report work progress to the project team for periodic review
