National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has released a notification to recruit 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for the ISRO-RESPOND sponsored project titled "Residual Stress Measurement and Mitigation in High Thickness AA2219 Alloy Friction Stir Welds for Next Generation Launch Vehicles". AA2219 is a high-strength aluminium alloy commonly used in launch vehicle fuel tanks, and friction stir welding is the joining process used to fabricate them, so this project directly supports India's space launch programme. The position is for 2 years and is based in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Selected candidates can also register for a PhD at NIT Warangal as per institute rules, making this a strong stepping stone into a research career in aerospace materials. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering with First Class, OR M.E./M.Tech in Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Materials Science, Production, CAD CAM, or Design with First Class
• Preferred Knowledge: Prior experience with welding, aluminium alloy metallurgy, and residual stress measurement
• Project Work: You will work on microstructural and mechanical property characterization, residual stress measurement, and its mitigation in aluminium alloy friction stir welds used for launch vehicles

Note: The notification does not specify a minimum work experience, so recent graduates who meet the qualification and are willing to pursue research work can also apply.

Age Limit

• You should be up to 30 years old, with age relaxation as per institute norms for reserved categories.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 37,000 + HRA per month if you have a valid GATE qualification.
• You will get Rs. 31,000 + HRA per month if you do not have a GATE qualification.
• Your stipend will be enhanced in the third year of the project, as per norms.
• You also get HRA as per institute rules, and you are eligible for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, subject to availability.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Based on your Performa application, educational qualifications, and GATE/NET score.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed online or offline. If your interview is conducted online, make sure you have a stable internet connection. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview either way.
