National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) has released Advertisement No. MED/JRF/2 dated 13 August 2026 for one temporary Junior Research Fellow post. This position is under a DRDL-sponsored project titled "Weldability Studies of Additively Manufactured Maraging Steel, and Titanium Alloy" (sanction number DRDL/22/08P/25/0587/25643/DOE). The project runs for 2 years, giving you steady, hands-on research experience at an Institute of National Importance.

The project looks at weldability of additively manufactured maraging steel and titanium alloys — materials widely used in aerospace and defence applications because of their high strength-to-weight ratio. As a JRF, you will work under Dr. Adepu Kumar, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, who is the Principal Investigator on this DRDL-funded project. This role suits fresh engineering graduates or postgraduates who want research exposure in advanced manufacturing, welding and metallurgy.

NIT Warangal, earlier known as Regional Engineering College (REC) Warangal, is one of India's oldest technical institutes and holds the status of an Institute of National Importance. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification (Option 1): B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Metallurgy with First Class.
• Qualification (Option 2): M.E./M.Tech in Manufacturing, Welding, Production, Metallurgy, CAD-CAM, Design or a related specialization.
• Candidates with a valid GATE/NET/JRF score should mention it in the application, though it is not compulsory.
• Relevant project or research experience and publications, if any, will be considered during shortlisting.
• You must declare that all information given in your application is true and correct — your candidature can be cancelled if any detail is later found false.

Age Limit

• The maximum age limit is 35 years.
• Age Relaxation: Candidates from OBC/SC/ST categories and women get an upper age relaxation of up to 5 years.

Salary

• You will get a fellowship of Rs. 31,000 per month for the full 2-year project duration.
• Selected candidates are also eligible for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, as per institute rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection for this JRF post does not involve a written exam:

1. Screening: Applications are checked against the eligibility criteria and shortlisted based on qualification, GATE/NET/JRF score and any relevant experience.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview with the Principal Investigator and project team. The list of shortlisted candidates and the interview date will be announced on the institute website www.nitw.ac.in.
