No. WII/ADVT.1/RP-CELL/July 2026 to fill 20 positions across 5 ongoing research projects on sea turtles, the Nicobar megapode, World Heritage management, river ecology, and Ganges River dolphins. Posts range from Project Assistant and Administrative Assistant to Project Associate and Senior Project Associate. The original deadline of 28 July was extended to 7 August 2026 due to landslides and flooding that disrupted internet access in the North-Eastern states. Project Assistant posts (Rs. 27,000/month):
- Bachelor's Degree in Science (Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Marine Sciences/Environmental Sciences/Geoinformatics/Life Sciences/Agriculture/Forestry) or a Social Science discipline (Geography/Statistics/Economics/Public Administration/Social Work/Anthropology), depending on the project
Project Associate-I posts (Rs. 30,000-37,000/month):
- 4-Year Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Natural Sciences (Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Marine Biology/Environmental Sciences/Geoinformatics/Life Sciences) or a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science. NET or GATE qualified candidates get the higher pay of Rs. 37,000.
Project Associate-II (Rs. 33,000-42,000/month):
- 4-Year Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Natural Sciences, Veterinary Science, or Engineering (Computer Science/GIS/Remote Sensing/Electronics), plus 2 years of R&D experience
Senior Project Associate (Rs. 57,000/month):
- 4-Year Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Natural Sciences with 4 years of R&D experience, or a Doctoral Degree in Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Life Sciences
You can apply for a maximum of 2 positions that match your qualifications, with a separate application and processing fee for each.
Age Limit
- Age limit is 50 years for most posts, and 35 years for the Project Associate-I posts under the Nicobar Megapode, World Heritage Centre, and Chambal & Tons Rivers projects, as on the last date of application.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 years and OBC candidates get up to 3 years relaxation in the upper age limit.
Salary
- Monthly pay ranges from Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 57,000 plus House Rent Allowance (HRA), depending on the post and qualification.
- NET or GATE qualified candidates get a higher pay of Rs. 37,000 (Project Associate-I) or Rs. 42,000 (Project Associate-II), compared to Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 33,000 for non-NET/GATE candidates.
- The Senior Project Associate post pays the highest, at Rs. 57,000 + HRA per month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
The selection is done in 2 stages:
- Shortlisting: Based on your marks in Bachelor's/Master's degree, specialization relevance to the project, research/work experience, and publications (criteria vary by post category). The top 10 candidates per position are shortlisted.
- Online Interview: Conducted by a duly constituted Selection Committee.
Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee you an interview call - shortlisting is competitive.

Responsibilities
- Collect field data and biological samples for ongoing wildlife research projects
- Assist in habitat monitoring, sea turtle nesting surveys, or river ecosystem sampling as per your assigned project
- Maintain accurate field records, catalogue samples, and manage research databases
- Support satellite tagging, acoustic monitoring, or GIS mapping activities where applicable
- Analyze collected data using relevant statistical or GIS software
- Prepare technical reports and contribute to scientific publications
- Coordinate with local communities and field station staff during surveys
- Follow WII's field safety protocols during remote and arduous fieldwork
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Graduation degree in any discipline (varies by post; senior posts require Master's/4-year Bachelor's in Natural Sciences or a Doctoral degree)
Preferred Qualification
NET/GATE qualification, research experience, publications in peer-reviewed journals, GIS/RS software skills, or prior wildlife fieldwork experience depending on the post
