DU JRF Biochemistry Recruitment 2026: Overview
University of Delhi is hiring a Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at its South Campus in New Delhi. The fellowship supports an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project studying the mechanism behind HPV-associated cancers and the therapeutic insights that may follow from that work. The project is led by Prof. Alo Nag and gives you a laboratory-based role in a biological-sciences research group. This is a project position rather than a regular university appointment.
The research theme sits at the intersection of cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology and biochemistry. It is best suited to someone who wants hands-on experience with mammalian-cell systems and plans to build a research profile through project work or later doctoral study. Prior exposure shown through publications, technical work or a research project can strengthen your application, while national-level qualifications such as NET or GATE are treated as desirable rather than the basic degree requirement.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: The funded project has been sanctioned until 2029. The fellowship remains tied to the research scheme and can end automatically when the scheme closes.
- Nature of appointment: The role is purely temporary and performance-linked. It does not create a claim to a permanent University of Delhi position.
- Shortlisting: Meeting the basic academic condition does not guarantee an interview. The department will contact only shortlisted applicants by email with the interview date and time.
- Travel support: No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview or for joining the post, so you should plan your travel to the South Campus accordingly.
- Original records: If selected, you must show your original qualification, age and experience documents before joining. A mismatch can cancel the selection.
- Research fit: Experience in mammalian cell culture and core molecular or biochemical methods is particularly relevant because it aligns directly with the project's experimental work.
Application Submission Notes
Send your application to Prof. Alo Nag, Department of Biochemistry, University of Delhi South Campus, Benito Juarez Road, New Delhi 110021. The notice asks for the application to reach the undersigned and does not provide an online form or an application email, so prepare a complete physical submission for the department.
Include your CV and copies of mark sheets and certificates. Add a research-experience letter when relevant and copies of publications that demonstrate your laboratory or project background. Keep the material focused on biological-sciences training and the techniques named in the notice, because these records help the department judge your fit for the HPV-associated cancer project.
Make sure the contact email in your CV is active and checked regularly. Interview communication goes only to shortlisted applicants by email, and the department has not promised a separate notice to every person who applies. Retain a copy of everything you send so you can match it against the originals at the joining stage.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory experiments for the HPV-associated cancer research project
- Handle mammalian cell culture using appropriate sterile techniques

- Prepare figures, summaries and material for project reports
