Who Can Apply?
For Field Worker (Rs. 24,000 + HRA):
- Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Preference for residents of Great Nicobar Island / Andaman & Nicobar Islands who can undertake arduous field work.
For Project Assistant (Rs. 27,000 + HRA):
- Bachelor's degree in Science (Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Marine Sciences/Marine Biology/Environmental Sciences/Geoinformatics/Life Sciences/Agricultural/Forestry) OR a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology.
For Project Associate I (Rs. 37,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified, Rs. 30,000 + HRA for others):
- Four-year Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Natural Sciences (Wildlife Science/Zoology/Ecology/Marine Sciences/Marine Biology/Environmental Sciences/Geoinformatics/Life Sciences)/Agricultural/Forestry Sciences from a recognized university. One post (Government Liaison & Coordination) requires a Master's Degree in a Social Science discipline instead.
For Project Associate II (Rs. 42,000 + HRA for NET/GATE qualified, Rs. 33,000 + HRA for others):
- Four-year Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Natural Sciences/Agricultural/Forestry Sciences with 2 years of research experience after the qualifying degree.
For Senior Project Associate - GIS Specialist (Rs. 57,000 + HRA):
- Four-year Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Natural Sciences with 4 years of research experience, ideally with GIS/remote sensing skills.
For Principal Project Associate (Rs. 67,000 + HRA):
- Four-year Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Natural Sciences with 8 years of research experience.
For Project Scientist-I (Rs. 77,000 + HRA):
- Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Natural Sciences/Forestry Sciences. One post (Samruddhi Expressway monitoring) also accepts a Master's Degree in Engineering & Technology (Computer Science/IT/Remote Sensing/GIS/Data/Electrical Engineering/AI/Data Science).
Age Limit
- Age limit is 35 years for Project Assistant, Project Associate I, Project Associate II, and Senior Project Associate (GIS Specialist) posts.
- Age limit is 40 years for Project Scientist-I and Principal Project Associate posts.
- Age limit is 50 years for the Field Worker post.
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get up to 5 years relaxation, OBC candidates get up to 3 years relaxation.
Salary
- Monthly consolidated pay ranges from Rs. 24,000 to Rs. 77,000 depending on the post, plus HRA.
- Posts open to both NET/GATE and non-NET/GATE candidates carry two pay levels — the higher rate applies if you are NET or GATE qualified.

Selection Process

- Merit Scoring: You are scored out of 50 marks. For Project Assistant/Field Worker: 25 marks for % marks in your Bachelor's Degree + 25 marks for relevant specialization/experience. For Project Associate-I: 25 marks for % marks in your Master's Degree + 25 marks for relevant specialization/experience. For Project Associate-II, Senior/Principal Project Associate, and Project Scientist posts: 5 marks for UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET-JRF, 25 marks for % marks in your Post-Graduation, 10 marks for research/work experience, and 10 marks for publications.
- Shortlisting: The top 10 candidates for each advertised position are shortlisted for an online interview.
- Online Interview: A duly constituted Selection Committee conducts online interviews for shortlisted candidates.
- Final Selection: Selected candidates must produce all original documents for verification at the time of joining.

Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and data collection for wildlife and biodiversity studies
- Deploy and monitor camera traps, GPS trackers, and other field equipment
- Collect, organize, and analyze ecological and spatial (GIS) data
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and scientific documentation
- Coordinate with local communities, forest staff, and project stakeholders
- Assist senior scientists in project planning, monitoring, and fieldwork logistics
- Support laboratory analysis and genetic sampling where required
- Maintain project records and follow standardized research protocols
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Graduation degree (any discipline) to Ph.D. in Natural Sciences, Wildlife Science, Zoology, Ecology, or related fields depending on the post — see Vacancy Breakdown table.
Preferred Qualification
GIS/remote sensing skills, fieldwork experience, and research publications are preferred for senior research posts.
