Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) Research Associate I Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) is an Institution of National Importance set up by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, at the NCR Biotech Science Cluster in Faridabad, Haryana. RCB works at the interface of biotechnology education, training, and multidisciplinary research. Under Advertisement No. 27/Project/2026/HR, RCB is recruiting a Research Associate I for the project "Designing a climate-resilient rice variety for direct-seeded cultivation using CRISPR-based approaches," led by Investigator Dr. Ramu S. Vemanna, Associate Professor. Direct-seeded rice cultivation uses far less water than traditional transplanted rice, and this project aims to use gene-editing tools to make rice varieties better suited to this water-saving method — important work for climate-resilient agriculture in India. The position is initially for one year, extendable for one more year based on your performance. No written exam is required — selection is through an online interview, making this a good opportunity for postdoctoral-level researchers with a strong publication record in plant molecular biology and gene editing.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Plant Biology, Bioengineering, Agricultural Microbiology, or Life Sciences from a recognized university.
• Experience: You should have strong experience designing and running research experiments related to plant physiology and functional biology, with at least one first-authored research paper published in an SCI journal.
• Technical skills: Hands-on experience with gene editing, organelle isolation, and plant tissue culture techniques will help you perform well in this role.
• Preferred: Good analytical skills, understanding of photosynthesis, and familiarity with omics approaches (transcriptomics/metabolomics) and bioinformatics tools will be an advantage.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get Rs. 58,000 per month plus 30% HRA, which works out to a competitive package for a one-year research assignment.
