PSB Chief Risk Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
Punjab & Sind Bank (PSB), a Government of India undertaking, is engaging a Chief Risk Officer to lead risk management across the bank, its domestic operations, subsidiaries and branches. This is a senior contractual leadership assignment based in the Human Resource Development Department's recruitment framework, with the role reporting into the bank's top governance structure.
The position is broader than reviewing individual credit proposals. You will shape an enterprise-wide risk and governance framework covering credit, investment, market, liquidity, operational, compliance, technology, cyber and climate-related risks. The bank expects the officer to move risk work from a monitoring function toward an insight-led advisory role for senior management and the Board.
A large part of the assignment involves connecting risk policy with day-to-day decisions. You will guide specialist teams, review analytical models, oversee stress testing and portfolio limits, and help business units understand informed risk-taking. The role also carries responsibility for timely reporting to risk committees, senior management and the Board, while keeping bank-wide practices aligned with applicable RBI directions.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract term: The initial engagement is for three years. It may be extended one year at a time, up to a maximum term of five years, after an annual performance review by the Board or its Risk Management Committee.
- No regular absorption: This contractual engagement does not create a right to regular employment or absorption in the bank.
- Benefits: Provident fund, gratuity and pension provisions do not apply to this contract, and no extra facility or benefit is payable beyond the agreed terms.
- Leave: The officer receives 30 days of paid leave in a calendar year, with no more than five days taken at one time. Unused leave lapses at the end of the contract year.
- Working schedule: Working hours, weekly offs and holidays follow the rules applicable to serving bank employees.
- Posting: The preferred placement is the Head Office or Corporate Office, but the bank may post the selected officer to any of its offices in India when operational needs require it.
- Professional independence: The role calls for independent judgement, regulatory awareness and the ability to work directly with the Board and senior management.
