SBI Trade Finance Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview
State Bank of India (SBI), through its Central Recruitment & Promotion Department, is recruiting Trade Finance Officers for the International Banking Group on a regular basis. The drive has separate entry points for a maker role in the junior management grade and a checker role in the middle management grade. You may apply for both grades if your experience meets each post's conditions.
This is a specialist-cadre career focused on trade finance and foreign-exchange operations. The work connects transaction processing with document checks, sanctions screening and regulatory compliance, making it most suitable for banking professionals who already handle trade products in an officer-level role.
Posts and Disciplines
- JMGS-I Maker: Enter trade and forex transactions, upload supporting records, check documents before approval and keep screening-system data accurate.
- MMGS-II Checker: Review transactions entered by makers, test the supporting documents, check sanctions and anti-money-laundering controls, and release compliant transactions.
Post-wise Duties
Trade Finance Officer JMGS-I
In the maker role, you will process allotted trade finance or forex work in SBI's transaction systems. You will scan and upload records, enter transaction and screening data, examine the documents and send accurate cases onward for approval.
Your performance will be linked to accuracy, transaction volume and turnaround time. You will also complete internal certifications, learn changes in systems and processes, and take part in product or role-based refresher sessions.
Trade Finance Officer MMGS-II
In the checker role, you will compare maker entries with the original trade documents and validate regulatory compliance before approval. This includes sanctions and anti-money-laundering scrutiny as well as handling the OFAC release function described in the notice.
You will monitor team productivity and delayed transactions, coordinate closure or resubmission of incomplete cases, and contribute to risk-control reviews. The role also expects you to support process improvements through compliance training and operational feedback.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Specialist cadre: Both grades remain in the specialist stream and do not carry an option to convert to the general cadre.
- Shift work: Maker and checker teams can be rostered across early, daytime, evening and overnight shifts; SBI may revise the timings.
- Posting: Hyderabad and Kolkata are the suggested locations, but SBI can post or transfer selected officers anywhere in India. Requests for another centre may not be accepted.
- Probation: The notice sets a six-month probation period, followed by service under the bank's applicable rules.
- Vacancy status: Advertised positions, including reserved positions, are provisional and may change with the bank's requirement.
- Experience rule: Teaching and training work does not count toward the required professional experience.
Application Submission Notes
The application is handled fully online, and you do not need to send a printed form or supporting papers to SBI. Keep one active email address and mobile number because interview communication and call letters may be sent electronically.
Upload readable copies of every applicable record, including the bank's biodata form and mandatory undertaking. If you submit more than one form for the same grade, SBI will retain only the last completed application and will not return fees paid for earlier registrations.
