Prasar Bharati Casual Assignees Recruitment 2026: Overview
Prasar Bharati's Regional News Unit at Doordarshan Kendra Bengaluru is creating a panel of casual newsroom and broadcast assignees for its Kannada-language operations. This is a flexible engagement for individual shifts rather than a regular staff appointment, and it brings together editorial, production, graphics and on-camera work in one notice. Karnataka residents with media, communication or computer backgrounds can choose the role that best matches their training, while Bengaluru residents receive preference.
Posts and Disciplines
- Website Assistant: digital-news support for the unit's online output, suited to graduates with journalism or mass-communication training and some exposure to media operations.
- Broadcast Assistant: television and radio production support, with Kannada study and practical audio-visual familiarity treated as useful strengths.
- CG Operator: computer-graphics and on-screen presentation support for news production, aimed at candidates trained in computer applications.
- Anchor: Kannada news presentation and interviews, where voice quality, pronunciation, camera presence and awareness of current affairs matter.
Post-wise Duties
Website Assistant
You will help prepare and organise digital news material, write clear story copy and support coverage of relevant events for the unit's website.
Broadcast Assistant
You will support television and radio production, coordinate programme material and help the newsroom move stories from planning to broadcast.
CG Operator
You will prepare computer-generated captions and graphics, check on-screen text and operate the graphics workflow during news production.
Anchor
You will present Kannada news bulletins, pronounce names accurately, conduct interviews and respond confidently to developing regional, national and international stories.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Casual panel: Empanelment does not create a regular post or a right to permanent employment.
- Assignment limit: A person on the panel may receive no more than seven assignments in a month, and the notice does not promise a minimum number of shifts.
- Residence: You must be an Indian national residing in Karnataka; Bengaluru residents receive preference.
- Attendance costs: The unit will not pay TA or DA for any test or interview connected with the empanelment.
- Application scrutiny: Missing enclosures can lead to rejection, and canvassing in any form can disqualify your application.

Salary & Compensation
Pay Scale
Daily assignment fee: Website Assistant and Broadcast Assistant Rs. 1,500 per shift; CG Operator Rs. 1,125 per shift; Anchor Rs. 3,000 per shift. Maximum seven assignments per month.

Computer Knowledge Required
Local Language Required (Kannada; Anchor candidates must be proficient in Kannada, and Kannada at matriculation level is desirable for Broadcast Assistant.)
