National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) Senior Consultant - Tribal Health Cell Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), New Delhi, is recruiting on behalf of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) for a Senior Consultant in its Tribal Health Cell (NHM-I). This senior contractual role leads the review, documentation and analysis of tribal health programmes across states and districts. This is a step above the Consultant post — it needs a postgraduate degree (not just a diploma) and more years of hands-on public health experience. If you already have solid experience working with tribal, rural or other marginalized communities, this role is built for you.
Who Can Apply?
- Qualification: A bachelor's degree in MBBS, BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BUMS (AYUSH), or Political Science/Social Work/Sociology/Anthropology, plus a postgraduate degree (MD/MPH/MSc) in Community Medicine, Public Health, Health Systems Research, Epidemiology, or Health Policy & Planning. Note: a postgraduate diploma is not accepted for this senior role.
- Experience: You need at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in the public health sector, with a minimum of 2 years specifically related to health systems, policy or programmes for tribal, rural or other marginalized communities.
- Skills: You should have strong coordination skills to work with state governments and different ministry divisions, plus excellent written and spoken English.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Hindi or another regional language and demonstrated experience working with government and NGO-led health programmes in tribal areas.
Age Limit
- You should be up to 50 years old as on the date NHSRC receives your application.
Salary
- Selected candidates will get a consultancy fee of Rs. 90,000 to Rs. 1,50,000 per month, based on your qualification and experience.
Selection Process
NHSRC follows this process to pick the Senior Consultant:
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on qualification and experience. If a large number qualify, the top 5 candidates per vacancy are considered.
- Written Test (if conducted): You need a minimum of 70% marks to qualify.
If two or more candidates score the same marks in the written test, all of them move ahead together.

Responsibilities
- Lead the review and reporting of tribal health matters within set timelines
- Coordinate closely with programme divisions across the ministry for inputs and feedback
- Analyze state and district level innovations and document key findings
- Guide policy and programme planning changes through analytical documentation
- Develop technical and policy briefs, case studies, and monitoring protocols
- Drive operational research and impact assessments for tribal health programmes
- Coordinate with states and NGOs on tribal health initiatives
- Take up additional assignments as directed by your supervisor
