The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) has published Category No. 075/2026 for 1 vacancy of Non-Vocational Teacher in Biology (Senior) in the Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) department. This is a By Transfer recruitment, open only to qualified LP School Teachers and UP School Teachers currently working in the General Education Subordinate Service. There is no upper age limit for this by-transfer post — only candidates born on or before 1 January 2003 are eligible. The rank list prepared from this notification will remain valid for 1 to 3 years, and vacancies reported to the Commission during that period will also be filled from the same list. In this notification, a Non-Vocational Teacher means a full-time post with a workload of 15 periods or more per week in the subject.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Post Graduate Degree in Zoology or Botany with at least 50% marks (or an equivalent qualification with Zoology/Botany as a subsidiary subject in B.Sc) from a University in Kerala
• Teaching Qualification: B.Ed degree in the concerned subject acquired through a regular course of study. If not available, the notification allows a B.Ed in the related faculty, and failing that, a B.Ed in any subject — each acquired through regular study at a University in Kerala
• Eligibility Test: Must have passed the State Eligibility Test (SET) for Non-Vocational Teacher — exempted if you have passed the SET for College Lecturer or HSST, NET/JRF, or hold a Ph.D/M.Phil/M.Ed in the concerned subject
• Who Can Apply: Only serving LP School Teachers/UP School Teachers in the General Education Subordinate Service, since this is a By Transfer post
• SC/ST and differently-abled candidates get a 5% marks relaxation in the Post Graduation qualification
• Persons who have acquired an M.Ed in the concerned subject are exempted from the B.Ed requirement
• Weightage Marks: Extra ranking marks are given for non-qualifying higher degrees in the relevant subject — 2 marks for M.Phil, 4 marks for Ph.D, 5 marks if you hold both, and 2 marks for a Post Doctoral Fellowship

Age Limit

• You must be born on or before 1 January 2003 to apply.
• No upper age limit applies for this By Transfer recruitment.
• The reservation rules in Part II Rule 14 to 17 of KS&SSR, 1958 do not apply to this selection.

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a salary in the Rs. 55,200 to Rs. 1,15,300 per month scale of pay.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Kerala Government rules.

Selection Process

Selection for this By Transfer post works as follows:

1. Application Screening: Kerala PSC checks your qualification, experience, and service records submitted through your One Time Registration profile.
2. Weightage Marks: Extra marks are given for a non-qualifying M.Phil, Ph.D, or Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the relevant subject, as detailed in the Who Can Apply section above.
3. Rank List: A rank list is prepared based on your qualifications and weightage marks; this list stays valid for 1 to 3 years.
4. Document Verification: You must submit original certificates, including a Service Certificate from your Head of Office, when called by the Commission.

Note: If a written/OMR/online test is conducted as part of this selection, you will need to confirm your participation through your OTR profile to download the admit card. Once selected, you will serve a probation period of 2 years within a continuous period of 3 years.
