IITR Junior Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is engaging a Junior Research Assistant at its Centre for Nanotechnology for a project on an intelligent neuromorphic multimodal patch for adaptive pain mapping, management and early diagnosis of diabetic neuropathy. The research connects wearable sensors, biomedical signals, embedded hardware and artificial intelligence rather than staying within a single laboratory discipline. This is a hands-on interdisciplinary project, so it suits you if your master's training combines electronics, computing, materials, biotechnology or a related area. The work is intended for Health 4.0 applications and includes both device development and validation of diagnostic methods.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: the engagement runs for the project's stated three-year duration, with the research work organised under the principal investigator at the Centre for Nanotechnology. Your work will follow the project's research milestones rather than a permanent institute cadre.
• Research focus: you will work across sensor integration, biomedical signal acquisition, neuromorphic computing, machine learning, hardware-software co-design and embedded-system development. Because the patch combines sensing and computing layers, you should be comfortable moving between bench work, code and data.
• Preference areas: experience with wearable sensors, biomedical signal processing, flexible electronics, healthcare data analytics or closely related technologies can strengthen your application. The broad discipline list means the team is looking for transferable research ability, not just one narrow degree label.
• Equal-merit preference: SC and ST candidates receive preference where qualifications and experience are otherwise equal.
• Doctoral opportunity: the selected researcher may get an opportunity to seek PhD admission after meeting the institute's separate admission criteria; the project appointment itself does not guarantee admission.
• Interview travel: IIT Roorkee will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
• Shortlisting: only shortlisted applicants will receive the interview schedule and related instructions from the project team.
