About This Job

Apply for the SRF vacancy at IIT Jammu. M.E./M.Tech with research experience eligible. Salary: Rs 42,000 plus HRA. Last date: 17 September 2026.

IIT Jammu SRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow for a Department of Science and Technology-funded R&D project in the Department of Civil Engineering. The project is developing an automated, flexible ultrasonic-testing array for inspecting curved vertical surfaces on bridge piers, bringing together concrete evaluation, sensing, robotics and data processing.

The work is designed around wave-based concrete scanning and subsurface image processing. Its broader goal is to combine a flexible sensor array with automated data acquisition so curved infrastructure can be examined more effectively. This makes the fellowship a good fit if you enjoy interdisciplinary work spanning civil structures, control systems, electronics, mechanical design and signal interpretation.

You would join a project where laboratory development and practical infrastructure inspection need to inform each other. Programming, hardware interfacing and CAD knowledge are especially useful because the system must collect reliable signals, adapt to curved surfaces and turn raw measurements into meaningful subsurface information.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Initial tenure: The engagement begins with a six-month term and may continue based on performance or until the project ends, whichever occurs first.
  • Project appointment: This is a fixed-term research role linked to the sponsored project, not a permanent institute position.
  • Shortlisting: Meeting the stated criteria does not guarantee an interview. IIT Jammu may shortlist candidates according to merit and the project's needs.
  • Interview format: The interview may be held online or offline, and shortlisted candidates will receive the schedule by email.
  • Travel: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending an offline interview or for joining after selection.
  • Current employment: If you are already working, you must provide a relieving certificate from your employer when selected.
  • Language: The notice is bilingual; the English version controls if the English and Hindi text creates any doubt.

Application Submission Notes

Use the IIT Jammu online application portal and choose the Contract/Project Staff/JRF/SRF tab that matches this fellowship. The application needs a valid email address and phone number because all shortlisting and interview communication will be sent directly to the details you enter.

If called for interview, keep an updated CV and the originals with attested photocopies ready for verification. Questions about the project can be directed to the named project contact in the Department of Civil Engineering.
