Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) has released notification No. IITGoa/DoRD/012/REC/2026 for 1 Junior Research Fellow post in the School of Mechanical Sciences. The JRF will work on a BRNS (Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences) sponsored project titled "Development of coupled fluid-particle dynamics code for application in continuous air monitoring." The project is funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India and will be carried out in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). This is a research-focused role ideal for M.Tech graduates with interest in CFD and aerosol science.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

  • M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other allied branches
  • Exceptional candidates with B.E/B.Tech from the same branches may also be considered
  • Qualified GATE score in the relevant stream is mandatory (B.E/B.Tech candidates must have a valid GATE Scorecard)

Desirable Qualification

  • Experience in CFD, OpenFOAM, Aerosol Modeling
  • Basic understanding of coupled CFD modelling

Salary

  • Selected candidate will get a salary of Rs. 37,000 per month
  • HRA: As per funding agency (BRNS/DAE) norms
  • Leave and medical benefits as per IIT Goa institute norms

Nature of Work

  • The work is predominantly numerical in nature
  • You will develop a CFD framework to perform numerical investigation for the transport of aerosol particles in a workplace environment
  • Experiments may be designed toward the later stage of the project
  • The project will be carried out in collaboration with a research group at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)

Duration of Appointment

The appointment is for 6 months, with a possible extension for another 6 months (total up to 1 year).

Responsibilities
