The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has released a notification (Advt. No. SPON/10139/Advt0250) for 1 Post-Doctoral Fellow position under Prof. Abhisek Samanta in the Department of Physics. The role is part of a research project titled "Topological Transport Phenomena in Magnetic and Nonmagnetic Weyl Semimetals", which studies nonlinear Hall effects, chiral anomaly, and strong correlations. This is a 1-year contract position that may be extended by another year based on funding and performance. About the Role

The selected candidate will join the theoretical condensed matter research group of Prof. Abhisek Samanta and will also collaborate with the experimental condensed matter group of Prof. Gopinadhan Kalon at IIT Gandhinagar. The project studies the roles of strong correlations, disorder, and multiband effects in nonlinear Hall phenomena in topological materials such as Weyl semimetals. The research involves advanced quantum field-theoretical techniques as well as numerical methods.

As part of the role, you will also take part in teaching and academic activities in line with institute norms. The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended by a second year based on funding availability and your performance. This role is a good fit if you enjoy working at the intersection of analytical theory and computational methods in quantum condensed matter physics.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must hold a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics with specialization in Condensed Matter Physics or Statistical Physics. Candidates who have submitted their thesis are also eligible to apply.
• Academic Record: You need a good academic record with a minimum of 60% (or equivalent grade) from graduation onwards and 55% (or equivalent) in Class 10 and Class 12.
• Preferred: Preference goes to candidates with a strong research track record in theoretical condensed matter physics, especially in strongly correlated quantum systems, and hands-on experience with many-body techniques (analytical or numerical).

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 72,000 to Rs. 84,000 (including House Rent Allowance), based on your experience and qualifications.
• An HRA of Rs. 11,000 per month is included where applicable, as per institute norms.
