IIT Gandhinagar's Research & Development Office has released Advertisement No. SPON/62029/Advt0255 dated 07 July 2026 for 2 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) posts under Prof. Atul Bhargav in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project, titled "Demonstration of a Fuel Cell-based Power Pack Platform for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles," focuses on building next-generation power systems for drones. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply — you do not need prior work experience, though hands-on experience with experimental setups is an added advantage. IIT Gandhinagar is one of the newer-generation IITs, known for its interdisciplinary research culture and modern campus at Palaj, near Ahmedabad — this project gives you a chance to work on real hardware for unmanned aerial vehicle power systems rather than purely classroom-based research.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, ECE, EEE, or Chemical Engineering with a valid GATE score (or other qualification as per DST guidelines), OR M.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, ECE, EEE, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline
• Preferred: Hands-on experience building experimental setups, and proficiency in technical drawing, CAD, and specification preparation
• Skills: Strong teamwork and communication skills, and willingness to learn and build a novel engineering system from scratch
• The project team works across disciplines, so you should be comfortable collaborating with researchers from electrical, electronics, and chemical engineering backgrounds in addition to your own.

Age Limit

• You should be under 30 years old as on the last date of submitting your application.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 46,990 (including 27% HRA, which works out to Rs. 9,990 per month).
• The position is for a fixed term till 18 March 2027, and may be extended depending on your performance and the availability of project funds.
• As a Junior Research Fellow, you will work as project staff of the Institute for the duration of your engagement, under the direct guidance of the Principal Investigator, Prof. Atul Bhargav.
