IIT Bhilai RA-III and JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) is recruiting a Research Associate-III and Junior Research Fellow for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project under the Advanced Research Grant scheme. The project sits in the Department of Electrical Engineering and focuses on a multi-input converter, a dynamically reconfigurable battery pack and smart charging for micro urban electric mobility.
The work connects power-electronics research with battery configuration and charging control. It is led by Dr. Lalit Kumar Sahu at IIT Bhilai, with Dr. Hemachander Allamsetty of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at National Institute of Technology Puducherry as co-principal investigator. This joint academic setting gives the research team a clear link between converter design, energy-storage behaviour and mobility applications.
Posts and Disciplines
- Research Associate-III: a senior research role expected to take ownership of major technical tasks, connect the different parts of the project and help turn findings into defensible research outputs.
- Junior Research Fellow: a developing-researcher role supporting modelling, experiments, data handling and technical documentation under the investigators' guidance.
Post-wise Duties
Research Associate-III
You will help shape the project's technical direction, review design choices and connect the converter, battery-pack and charging-control workstreams. The role may involve planning investigations, checking results, guiding day-to-day research activity and helping prepare papers or project reports.
You should be comfortable moving between simulation, experimental evidence and engineering judgement. Clear documentation and reproducible analysis will matter because the project brings several electrical subsystems together.
Junior Research Fellow
You will support the hands-on research cycle: study the relevant literature, build or refine models, assist with laboratory work and organise the resulting data. Under the investigators' guidance, you may compare configurations, record test behaviour and help explain how smart charging affects the reconfigurable battery system.
The fellowship is also a chance to build disciplined research habits. You will need to keep notebooks and files clear, discuss unexpected results with the team and turn technical work into concise presentations and written updates.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project-funded engagement: both roles belong to the ANRF-supported research project and are not regular institute posts.
- Work location: the recruiting department and principal investigator are based at IIT Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.
- Collaborative setting: the project formally links IIT Bhilai with a co-investigator at NIT Puducherry, so research discussions may involve both institutions.
- Role fit: the senior and junior positions have different levels of ownership; read the post-wise conditions in the detailed advertisement before choosing the correct role.
Application Submission Notes
Applications are collected through the Google Form linked by IIT Bhilai's R&D recruitment page. Use the designated form for this specific ANRF project and make sure your contact details and academic information match your records.
