The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released 22 subject-wise advertisements (Advt. No. 34/6-2026 to 55/6-2026) to fill 369 Assistant Professor (College Cadre) posts in state government degree colleges. This is one of the biggest teaching recruitments in Himachal Pradesh this year, covering arts, science, commerce and performing-arts subjects. If you are a NET/SET-qualified postgraduate or a PhD holder, this is a strong chance to get a permanent college teaching job.

Subjects Covered (369 Posts in Total)

The 369 vacancies are spread across these 22 subjects:

• Languages & Humanities: Hindi, English, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Psychology, Public Administration, Political Science
• Commerce & Social Science: Commerce, Economics, Geography
• Science: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Geology
• Performing Arts & Others: Music (Vocal), Music (Instrumental), Tabla, Dance, Physical Education

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: A Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in the relevant subject, along with NET / SET / SLET.
• PhD holders: If you hold a PhD awarded as per UGC regulations, you are exempt from NET/SET/SLET for the relevant subject.
• Domicile: Reserved-category benefits (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) apply to bonafide Himachali candidates. Candidates from other states can apply against unreserved posts.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 45 years old as on 01 January 2026.
• Age Relaxation: 5 years for bonafide Himachali candidates who are SC/ST/OBC, wards of Freedom Fighters, or PwBD (where the post is reserved for that category).

Salary

• The post carries Academic Pay Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission — Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 1,82,400 per month — as per UGC norms.
• New recruits in Himachal Pradesh are first engaged as Job Trainees for about two years on a fixed monthly emolument (reported around Rs. 35,000) before moving to the full pay scale.
• Once on the regular scale, you also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per Himachal Pradesh government rules.

• SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PwD of Himachal Pradesh: Rs. 100
• The fee is non-refundable and is paid online through the HPPSC portal.

Selection Process

Selection is done through a written examination followed by an interview:

1. Written Test (Two Papers): HPPSC holds a two-paper written examination, usually on the same day — a general/aptitude paper and a subject-specific paper.
2. Personality Test (Interview): Shortlisted candidates are called for a personality test.
3. Final Merit: The final merit is prepared from your subject paper (Paper-II) marks plus the interview marks.

2. Complete your One Time Registration (OTR) if you have not already.
3. Open the advertisement for your subject and fill in the online application form.
4. Upload your photo, signature and required documents.
5. Pay the fee online and submit the form.
6. Download and keep a printout of the submitted application.
